EBOLA What in the heck is going on with all this reported vomiting on planes lately?

Really now!

I fly Alot and I have never been on a flight where someone vomited, even when I got one of my friends drunk for his flight to Hawaii and filled his carryon bag with phone books!

All I here now are reports of people vomiting on planes, they're quickly looked over and then, "Your ok, on your way now...".

I have to wonder if the people who are in the position to decide this at airports either don't want to deal with this headache and want the problem (vomiting fever laden passenger) to just go away or do they know they just can't handle that level of pathogen and again, are trying to get rid of this people ASAP?

I just can't stop thinking about this all day today.

I do long over the ocean flights, cross country flights, etc. and not one case of riding on the 'vomit comet'.

What gives? V

I hear ya Vessie. My head seriously feels like it's going to explode from all of this. :bdsk:

Actually it's only people traveling from West Africa vomiting all over that don't have ebola. It's air sickness, stomach flu, anything but the obvious answer.............ebola.................:sht::sht::sht::sht:

I agree. I have NEVER been on a flight where anyone vomited, and I have been on some long ones. It's very, very strange to me.

I'm supposed to go to Tn. soon and I do Not want to go now. Nope!

I am going to have to pull out of my old dusty bag and use some old hypnosis/mind control techniques so my husband will be well reprogrammed not to go either so he'll think it's his idea.

I just hate to do that but I think I have no choice now. *sigh* V

I have been flying extensively for Years on long haul flights.

Not one puke, not even from a baby! V

I have flown regularly (at least twice a year) from 1965 (yes, I flew "alone") through 2003. I can count on one hand the number of times folks vomited on the plane

"I've been wondering the same thing about puking passengers. Normally I'd expect
toilets overflowing with diarrhea. Speaking of small cramped spaces, those safety
belts squeeze their intestines, and whatever constipation they had is immediately
released during a healthy bout of extreme turbulence. That's when the squeamish
stewardesses keep out of the aisles and make themselves scarce, giving them an
excuse to spend quality time flirting and fooling around with us pilots in the secure
and odor-free confines of the cockpit. Anything is better than skidding over slippery
shit and landing flat on your ass to the laughter of passengers. But that still doesn't
explain increased upchucking because airline food always sucks. Darned if I know."

You have never flown with Oly Pash at the controls.

And then there's NASA who used to (maybe still does?) operate the Vomit Comet flights.

Thanks Bumblepuff, I needed a good laugh! V

Why is it that when ever one is sick it is assumed that the ill person has Ebola.
Even throwing up and dieing doesn't mean Ebola.
In the last weeks I have not read about a single victim having blood coming out of their orifices
and bleeding blisters that are the dreaded signs of Ebola.
Now I am reading that the only people that have classic Ebola in western Africa have been vaccinated by the Red Cross.
Nothing I have read about this manufactured crisis makes any sense.

I have been on two flights where I went into the bathroom and you could smell the vomit from someone before you, which I quickly left and waited for another bathroom, but only in bathroom, never seen anyone use the bag.

V- stop. Think a minute. You know already. Wanna pray together before you get on that next plane?

Yes! I don't think I'm going to go.

My hubby said earlier today, "Well, you don't have to go..." which is big for him but I don't want him to go either.

I think I'm going to scare the crap out of him with all these Frontier flights and their customers all being asked to quarantine themselves.

I'll ask, "How bad do you really want to go? What if certain areas of the country are shut down? Do you want to be stuck there at your mom's house? I sure don't!" that sort of thing. V

I used to barf every time--some of us do get airsick. Prolly my worst time was on a rough ride to Seattle, I was pregnant, we were almost down and the pilot aborted the landing and went around. I started when he hit the throttle and didn't stop til we were at the gate and fresh air was coming in. I'm one that always finds the bag first thing when I sit down.

Maybe it seems like more people are vomiting because suddenly vomit on a plane is newsworthy now (due to ebola) so they are reporting it, whereas before it was ignored. Before ebola was on the scene, no one could have cared less if some dude from Nigeria puked mid-flight. (Well except his seat-mates of course.)

You guys should all be glad you never flew with me when I was a child. If I was in the air longer than 2 hours, I would usually heave a couple times into the vomit bags. It's gotten better as an adult, but last time I flew I was taking Dramamine and that helped keep lunch down.

This too shall pass.
One of my younger brothers threw up on the plane on our first flight (he was about three years old), and I think I threw up once on a flight, too (though it may have been in a car -- that was a long time ago). But it was motion sickness, not disease, that caused the problem.

Ok- praying right now for your husband. Lord Jesus, for just a moment, open his eyes to the heavenly realm. Speak clearly to him about how to keep his family safe in your arms. I pray this in your holy, mighty name. Thank you for hearing my prayer Lord, for as you know I am in need of your forgiveness and mercy more than some others here. You know my heart, and all will be done as you have said. Bless V with an outpouring of your Holy Spirit, and guide her steps. Sorry for those who feel this is thread drift. Please feel free to put me on ignore...

+1 I believe this is the correct answer, for now. Ebola vomit contains blood. And they are shooting out bloody diarrhea from the other end, too.

The airlines changed the company that makes airplane food?

Nope... NEVER have seen anyone vomit...never mind anyone who was seriously ill.....this is a GIANT red flag for me.

Have you ever been around a person who can't stand the sight, sound, or smell of vomit. When encountering any they do a sympathetic involuntary vomit.

It would be a gross routine but I could see SNL take a plane full of people and when one starts, it triggers everyone to do so. Kind of like the Ann Margaret seen in Tommy with the beans.

wow, I guess I've run out of rational things to say about ebola, maybe we do need more light threads.

I'm glad someone posted this because I have said the same thing to my Spouse and friends. Wonder what's up with it? I used to fly all the time (lived in Singapore at one time) and can not remember anyone puking . Something weird

Never been on a crowded flight when the first thing the person seated next to you does is to locate the sick bag and mutters; "I'm gonna need this."? You know it is going to be a long flight.

It's relatively common. When I used to fly all over for my job, every couple of flights there was someone that would run toward the lav and not make it. Or use the barf bag three seats over just as they were serving lunch, or even that guy across the isle once that looked for a barf bag, and there wasn't one, so he just vomited right there into the magazine pocket. The stewardesses were non too happy with that.

Lot of people get airsick. Just reporting every time, now...

IMO..............perhaps.............there truly is an ulterior force drawing these people.......granting them access to travel most of us would be denied.......sent here, there, and everywhere....with a death sentence to share with whomever they come in contact..........

My God says in Psalm 91 that His faithfulness is a shield...........I pray this a lot.........and will pass from this earth time at His say so...............

I have only been on 1 flight out of hundreds that I have seen anyone vomit. It was a flight from Las Vegas to Denver, and very rough, we were all over the sky. Once the 1st person started, it was a mad scramble for the crew to supply air sick bags and carry the used ones away. Worst flight I was ever on. I never get airsick, but by the time we landed I was starting not to feel too good. Its really bad when the person next to you is using the bag.

I hated to see this thread since I am making 2 short flights tomorrow. At least the weather should be good.

Last time I flew in 1979, I threw up every time we took off and landed. Good thing for the barf bags. I get motion sickness.

It's stuff like this that makes me think this is a contrived epidemic or bio-terror...kinda both really.

I've been wondering the same thing. Suddenly people are vomiting uncontrollably everywhere. Just now, another case of a woman vomiting on a Pentagon tour bus. If this doesn't stop soon, this nation is going to be awash in a sea of vomit.

Thank you Resq'd!!!

I really need this right now and I'm going to make sure all these news reports are squarely in hubby's face so he will know that staying home is better than getting sick and we can always see his mom another time. I'll pm you when I get the chance! V

Reply to OP question:

I've been wondering about that also. I used to fly very frequently and never saw one person vomit on a plane or ever saw a mess from that source at least in the restroom.
