I have been emailed this video by 4 different people today and people I know are posting it on their social networks.

What does Nasa know? Do you think its just a general preparation sort of thing? I'm not sure what to make of this.

Basically it's Nasa has emailed all employees to prepare. prepare for what though?

Seems like whoever made the video is reading an AWFUL lot into a very nicely done video.

I'm no prophet...and have NO IDEA if any of this stuff has any merit, but I can't imagine that NASA vid is anything other than what it appears to be, which is just a typical ready.gov "you should be ready"....

Just another thread that is tempting but worthless if you can do U-tube due to limited resources.....sigh.

I am pretty sure it's possible to do a screen capture of said email and just post that. IF it is shown in the video.

So, if this thread is meant to scare me, it doesn't as there is not enough info to do so. lol.....

Just think of it this way:

Most of NASA's facilities are in hurricane-threatened areas and it's the start of hurricane season. So this is probably the NASA-standard hurricane season reminder for its workers to be thinking about and preparing for possible hurricanes this year.

After having it's collective buttocks handed to them by the storms, tornadoes and flooding that have happened recently, FEMA is pushing a LOT of organizations to push both a "Family Preparedness Plan", and a "Business Preparedness Plan". Even Home Depot is in on it at most locations. It's one way of getting others to do their work for them, leaving them with more money. There are insurance companies freaking out now about the damage and claims from the tornadoes, and we haven't even gotten to the peak of hurricane season. All of the other government agencies are getting into the act, from the FCC, to NOAA. I think this is what the e-mail is all about.

That being said, I do know that a lot of scientists (including some in NASA) do agree that the "Electric Universe" theory has a lot of truth to it. And with around a dozen comets and a handful of asteroids and other "bodies" on path to come flying past us (and the sun) within the next year, there could be a LOT of activity, especially with interactions with the sun and us. And we have already seen some of the interactions, including some really large CMEs and flares.

And let's not forget, NASA is also looking at being trimmed back QUITE a bit, and having to shelve a LOT of projects, not only because of the economy, but also because the shuttle program is ending now, and being replaced with a more "global" set of companies and organizations.

What an unimaginable loss of talent and experience that can never be replaced.

I get almost identical emails every year from both my Federal civilian employer and the Coast Guard. June is the start of hurricane season.

You know, a person can read up on all this stuff, and prep for whatever, and be concerned, etc, etc. But a lot of folks seem to just wallow in it, and wrap themselves in the doomer conspiracy crap. WTF is that all about? I mean COME ON people! this is a prep forum (and yes, we DO discuss all manner of other stuff too), but it is NOT a breathless conspiracy forum. That's GLP's mandate, and I don't want us infringing on their turf (heh).

It's not the distance that concerns us. We're not worried about it hitting the Earth. It's the magnetic and gravitational effects that it will have on Earth. On Sept 11, 2011, when ELE crosses over the ecliptic plane and enters into perigee position with our Sun, it will have it's way with Earth for 7-10 days.

If Elenin was was much more dense than anticipated, would there be added inertia as it whipped around the sun, thus broadening the projected elliptical?

Yes. Or it could be pushed slightly by a CME that blows out of the sun as it passes (this has happened before). And all it takes is a .15 degree of change over the 93 million miles to change the path by the distance from the Earth to the moon. Yeah, .15 is all it takes for it to change that much. Change it a full degree, and you are looking at 1.6 million miles difference. Not to mention that it would probably change the velocity of the object as well, which would further change the trajectory.
