Abbott Labs have come out with a machine that gives CV test results in 5 minutes. Per our governor's press conference today, Iowa has received 15 of the machines but only a limited number of test kits that can be used with them. Our machines are going to the hot spots to get a better idea of what's happening.

I'm sure there will be one in Des Moines, but otherwise yes to the hot spots.

Have you seen how they actually take the sample? They take an 8” swab and stick it about 6” into the vict, er, subject’s nasal cavity. So it actually is a kind of torture. Gonna have to be some dedicated reporters in the room, lemme tell ya.

My guess is that they will use the "new" test which is less intrusive, according to Trump and Pence.

Donald described the OLD test as "Stick it in and hang a right under your eye!"

He ALSO said the NEW 5 minute test is a LOT more comfortable.

I'm sure they'll be using the rapid (5-15 minute) blood test, not the swab-and-wait-a-week technique.

I give up.
I had to have that giant Q-tip shoved up my nose last year for the Type A flu. It didn't hurt exactly, but it felt nasty.

Blech.

It's like a flu test. It's not that bad. It's not wonderful, but it's unpleasant for a moment and then done. Ice had multiple flu tests as have my kids.

i do get frustrated with the always late timings of these, but i try to remind myself that a LOT of stuff is going on and they are trying to do so much all right now! it is understandable that it happens.

We are turning the corner if they can get these people tested that quickly. How long until this is in the gen pop? That's where the rubber meets the road. The President will declare, "The U.S. of A. is open for business!"

For understanding, binge watch a season of "The West Wing". It's apparently pretty dang accurate as far as the setting and distractions presented to POTUS.

AAAAAND, 1800 is in the rearview mirror.
