Did they ever do any boil water advisories in your area Dennis? I would think if you went to zero pressure that there is certainly the possibilities of some nasties infiltrating into the system.

The entire city of Austin and most cities surrounding it are under a boil water advisory.

I give up.
yes!!! that was one of the comments! you saw all the others!

when i saw this one, i whipped around and looked at fezzik and yelled, "SEE?! i told you so!"

hahahaha

Fezzik must be a trip. I showed the song and comments to my son and he was dying too.

The whole thing, song and comments are a psych. He goes, what's with the rug? He says it's not a bad song, but now it's ROOOOONED !!! I said well if you're ever depressed, just come here and read the comments.

It came back yesterday. Only used 3 gallons from my stocks (primarily for dog water.) I have a hot/cold water dispenser for my drinking water that uses the 5 gallon jugs. The current jug is about 2/3rds gone.

i'm watching this thinking, "how have i never heard this before?!"

i closed my eyes as i basked in it's resplendence, then.... "i can only watch you eat, my face pressed up against the window pane"

(record player needle screeches across)

WTH?! this is the stalker's national anthem!!

i told fezzik this, and he said, "oh no, baby! you want to see the stalker's national anthem....i got you.....here....go look at this!"

as i sat and watched, my first reaction was absolute stunned shock. it was like a slow train wreck.

he was throwing off some SERIOUS "put the "lotion in the basket!" vibes!

sincerely

i watched, my eyes getting bigger and bigger........

what

am

i

watching......

dude climbed in her window!!

i jerked my head up and looked up at fezzik

"what's he gonna do with the rug?!.................."

as fezzik is laughing his butt off, he says, "i told ya...." LOL

then we read the comments

i was clearly not the only one to have those thoughts....

for reasons much too long to go into, this song was once again brought back up between fezzik and me.

he did not remember the tom jones song, so i played it for him again. it was like he had never heard it before, and then i reminded him of the rest of this conversation.

we have been laughing ever since.

sadly, the video was taken down, and along with it, the glorious comments.

here is a different account that posted the video.

enjoy....

And filled the tub with water knowing that this was likely to happen?
And should have numerous gallons saved up before hand, for just such times as this. I have even posted about that, using sturdy jugs, such as Gatorade jugs, etc. Reg milk jugs too weak. Easy to do before hand, then you are ready for the emergency.

We melted ice and snow all winter for water, it was our only water source.

We use our Berkey to filter run off from our metal roof, (especially when the electricity is out, which means the well doesn’t run) but in years past, we’ve melted snow/ice in a big stock pot as it helps raise the low humidity and there’s always a wood stove fire as that’s our primary heat source.

The kids are all grown, married and have kids of their own, but they all remember those deep, dark, days of winter and melting snow to drink and cooking meals at the same time on our old Earth Stove. Home schooling around a roaring fire, stories, hot chocolate or egg custard, roasted meat in the cast iron Dutch oven and cobbler after that!

I wouldn’t trade those memories for anything, I don’t think my wife and kids would either!

I found that it uses less water to flush if you fill the tank rather than pouring it into the bowl.

I have water stored in various containers and of various ages that can be boiled and used for consumption. Or I have water stored in non-food grade containers that are strictly for flushing. I also have purchased bottled water that would be used first, well second since I have two Britta pitchers on my counter all the time plus a 4-quart kettle on the stove that I'd use first.
I'd rather carry fresh water in than deal with no sewage going out.

We still do that. Now it’s my grandkids building those memories of warm winter fires and hot biscuits and bacon off the wood cook stove, stews and post roasts simmering all day. We get our water from the spring and it goes through our 5 gallon Berkey style filter I made from stainless steel pots. We catch rain run off this time of year as well. Sometimes we cook our meals out side at our fire pit, Dutch oven bread and grouse on a roasting spit with trout over hot coals. Boy, making me hungry this early AM.

Perfect!

I was going to ask, ‘hey, you’re not my neighbor from a few miles away, are you?’

But where we live, the wind is often so bad that the outdoor fire days are somewhat limited…wildfires and all.

I just realized that I've been "liking" comments on a thread from 2021.
No problemo. The comments you have been liking, are good info that my be beneficial to you in the future !

As to the timing, there are lessons to be learned in that also !

Stay well !

That’s often the case with us too with the wind on the high elevation our cabin is at. Our workshop has a good wind break behind it so sometimes we go there to cook outside.
We are between Helena and Missoula. Latter part of the summer it’s too dry for outdoor fires.
