Good Morning, All :)

Just getting the thread started for the week before I head in to work this morning - hope that you are all having a good Labor Day weekend!

We are having a potluck at work today - first, to celebrate the holiday; and second, to let a well liked co-worker know how much we will miss her as she leaves us to start a new job managing a rural health clinic. Buddy is bring ribs, I've got potato salad, sliced peaches, Frito chips and dip,and made a popcorn/pretzel/candy snack mix. One co-worker is bring fresh garden veggies, one is making a cake and bringing ice cream; the doc said he'd order something in and, of course, being Sunday means it's Donut Day!

Just today and tomorrow to get through at work before my vacation starts - and then the work really begins lol! I'm hoping to spend some of my time getting most of the garden clean up done for the season and to plant just a little bit more in the fall garden area. It would be nice to get the house in order and do a little caulking before cold weather hits as well, but I do plan to spend some of my time just relaxing - with the kids back in school it shouldn't be quite so hectic this vacation

Well, better get my fanny off this chair and start getting ready for work - first stop: Coffee Pot!

Take care all; wishing you a safe and happy Sunday!

Already at work today...doing a short shift for extra pay. I don't mind...its been pretty Q (certain words we don't say in the ER).

This week is filled with a lot of work hours. I have another extra shift Wednesday night. School starts back on Thursday. The director of the school asked me to teach a class in April. I'm kinda excited about that!

Today i need to check the bee hives. They have been bringing in lots of pollen and necter the last two weeks. I may need to add super to one of the new hives. They had thirs about full for winter. Maybe they can make me a frame or two of honey. We bought a hive of Italian bees this spring. But they have very little honey at all. I am not sure they will make it through the winter. The swarm we caught from our original hive is doing great and so is the original one. They are a darker bee than the italians.
I have been talking to the root buyer. We have some wild herbs that he will buy. I have been gatheringand drying some. I am going to plant some ginseng. That is something we do not have. The seeds are cheap, but survivability is the issue.
We sprayed the hay field. We hope to cut some hay in October. The pastures had been neglected for years. We also have some repair work to do on one of the barns. We are trying to find ways to make this new land pay some of the payments.

Sounds like you are doing a great job working on having multiple income streams, Digger!

What type of class will you be teaching, Moldy?

Drove down our road toward home last night and was met by the beautiful sight of a neatly mowed farm - Hubby took care of the yard and orchard areas; cousins showed up with 3 different tractors/mowers and took care of the rest - it looks so nice now!

Got dragged off to the pool before 0700 this morning, back now and trying to caffeinate before I go help my work Buddy pick out some furniture for his new house. Plans for this afternoon include taking a nap (running on 3-4 hours sleep a night gets OLD fast!), catching up on laundry, then finish working up the peaches - which will include making a peach pie to go along with the goulash I plan for supper.

The 10 day forecast for our area is showing chances of rain 6 out of those 10 days so I am working up a list of both inside and outside jobs I can do while I am off work.

School gets out early tomorrow, so I will be heading up to the pool early again, then will pick the boys (and girl, if she wants to go) up at 11:30 to take them out to lunch. If it's not raining, we'll hit the trails for a short hike, then come back home and hang out while I work in the gardens and flower beds - I think my pole beans have dried enough to pick them; I will let them dry a bit more inside, then shell them for seed. If it is raining, we'll watch a movie the neighbor lady (works at library) brought me called 'Wild America' which is about 3 young brothers who travel across the US in 1968 to take photographs of wild life. I'll feed them supper before I take them home; and will stay with them until daughter gets off work - it's her late evening.

Looks like the caffeine is kicking in, better go look at furniture before it wears off

Take care all; have a great week!

I found out my GHB has somehow become too heavy to manage. So I've gotten a day pack put about a 5 pound bag of sugar in it and ware it around the home. Also started exercising more. Must be something to do with that dang Global Warming thing changing the curvature of the earth. Hills have definitely gotten steeper lately.

I'm loving reading y'all's posts! Thank you all for sharing!

Renee, hubby hit that $5 off $25 at Dollar General and found shorts for himself that were on clearance. He bought six pair for $20 after the coupon, so he's stocked up for a while. ;) He's been having a good week moneywise. He went to visit his mom the other day and she had a box of stuff that she was going to throw away if we didn't want it. He brought it home and along with some things we or our kids could use, there was a stack of six brand new popcorn cups from Bed, Bath and Beyond with the stickers still on them. I told him we didn't have room for them and we didn't need anything like that, so he took them back to BB&B and they gave him a refund of $15.49! The box from his mom also included about 15 pairs of woman's socks that all look brand new, so I have plenty of socks for quite a while since we already keep extra. He also took back a loaf of bread yesterday that apparently we didn't check the date on and it was already out of date. Even though he told the cashier that we bought it bogo and just wanted to trade it out for another loaf, she insisted that she had to give him the money back and a free loaf. He even called the manager back later to explain because we felt like we needed to return the money, but she said to just keep it and keep shopping at Publix.

Moldy, that's exciting about teaching a class! Congrats!

OGM, I know what you mean about the hills getting steeper. I HAVE to get in better shape.

Digger, multiple streams of income are the way to go. Congrats on working your plans!

Well, I have five of the granddaughters here this afternoon, so I'm going to get off and get them started on some schoolwork. I try to make it fun for them. ;)

Woo hoo! We were blessed by a friend yesterday who gave us ten Emergency Essentials Water Kits. I've been wanting something like that for years and this offer came totally out of the blue. What a blessing!

Probably won't be on here much - at least not enough to post. September promises to be very busy at work and school (and home). I"m hoping that I can get my thesis project done by the second week of October - it would take off so much pressure.
