Omg and I remember you saying he had no symptoms? Oh girlfriend I'll be praying for you guys

Yes, he was already on an antibiotic for the UTI, and didn't even know he had one, until his Urologist called to let him know. He was on his last day of those antibiotics that he began to have severe chills and a temp. I took him straight in to the clinic, and sure enough, he was already septic. Once in the hospital, and several other scans and x-rays later, doctor found pneumonia in one lung.

Prayers continue for everyone.

Just wanted to share -- I ordered six pairs of slipper socks with the rubber grips, three pairs from two different companies, near the beginning of September. One order just arrived! (evening of Oct. 27)
It looks like it was shipped from China. Anyway, they are fine, and I'm very glad to have them.

I ordered from two different companies in the hopes that I would get at least one order by Thanksgiving.

These were among several items I couldn't find locally, so I took a chance.

The tracking is totally messed up. According to the computer, this order is still in CA.

For what it's worth! And, yes, I'm finished ordering things online for now -- been finished. I took a chance on these and several pairs of wool socks because I have work-arounds if they never show up.

I hate JIT inventory and all the shipping mess ups we're forced to endure right now.

I'm just now getting home from the hospital with Cary. He has been hospitilized since the 21st with sepsis, UTI, and pneumonia. It's been touch and go, but no ICU, thank God. Since I only had Cary's phone, I couldn't log in to the net to let anyone know. I never left his side at the hospital. Cary did PM Dennis, once he was able, since he knows how to log in to the net by phone. Cary didn't particurly ask for a prayer request thread, so Dennis apparantly didn't start one for him.

He's still going to have to take it easy for the next two weeks, and is still on oral antibiotics for another week. He's very weak, and is just now beginning to regain an appetite.

It's good to be home.
Praying for you both!

Oh, my Southern Breeze, I am glad he is doing better now.

And, of course, me and my better half will pray for Cary and you too.

Cary is so blessed to have you at his side..........a STRONG ADVOCATE beside any patient jogs the caregivers to be more alert...I believe that our prayers/presence is vital to recovery............hospitals have many "spiritual" goings-on...........bless you all...

I never left Cary to the total care of the hospital staff. Since there is a bad shortage of nurses at our local hospital, someone had to help, and that person was me. I did almost all the work of the CNA's. The nursing staff made a mistake, and I caught it, before it became a serious problem. Cary is severely allergic to iodine. Every meal tray that was brought to him had a bottle of Ensure on it. Doctor wanted him to try to drink that even if he didn't eat anything. So, he tried one. Immediately, he went into an allergic reaction. I picked up the bottle of Ensure, and sure enough, it had iodine in it. Called his RN. She came rushing into his room, but wouldn't give him anything, and didn't believe the small amount of iodine in the Ensure caused the problem. She told me just to watch him to make sure his reaction didn't get any worse. By that point, I was fuming, and his reaction was getting worse. His throat was swelling. I had Benadryl in my purse, so you know what I did? Yeah, I did............I told his doctor what happened, and no more Ensure was brought on his food trays. He never had another reaction.

Man, there's too many reports of medical mistakes made that it's unwise to leave someone totally at the hospital staff's mercy. I had to stay on top of everything.

Praying for nomifyle and her husband.

I put in a Walmart order as quick as I could because they have our dog food in stock. It really goes fast but the price increase was about 2.50 a bag. I bought 3 which will give me 7 bags. I'll extend it with his dry food which has also become ridiculous. We feed biljac and supplement with science diet sensitive stomach. He has cancer so I do cater to him.

Looks like we will get a freeze next week so we're hoping to get the panels on tomorrow. If the wind keeps up though it may not happen!

Our weather has turned nasty. It's only 52 at 11 am, raining, and windy. No freezes, yet, in our near future, though. I do need to bring in all my houseplants, before we get there.

It looks like, for the forseeable future, I'll be doing most of my shopping online, again. There are too many nasties out there, and Cary doesn't need any more problems. The Flu has already started making it's round in our area. We don't take Flu vax, either.

I do need to make a quick trip to Walmart in the next few days. I'm all out of yogurt and eye drops. I may do the pick up delivery. I've never used it.

You have to order $39 to use it (my area anyway) and make sure you take your phone because you call them when you arrive so they can bring your stuff out.
Hope Cary continues to improve. Try and get some rest yourself.

Thanks. I didn't know there was a price limit. I used the prescription service at Walmart, after Cary's doctor called in his prescriptions from the hospital. They brought them right out to the car, after I called to let them know I was there. I liked the service, and that's why I'm thinking I'll do it with a few items and groceries, too.

He is improving, but still has very little energy, so is mostly staying in the recliner not doing much. His appetite is also improving, but not where it should be. I'm keeping a close watch over him. He has a few more days on antibiotics.

SouthernBreeze: YES, INDEED.......I watched the nurses & Dr. like a hawk......to learn procedure and to question them. Each night I'd research what I heard concerning possible procedures, etc. for his condition.......SEPSIS...I learned through YT how to administer his special antibiotics and instead of going to another rehab he came home and I administered his meds through a pressurized bulb filled with the anti-b...........The Drs. DID NOT LIKE IT WHEN I QUESTIONED THEIR SUGGESTIONS AND CAME UP WITH ALTERNATIVES...SO DH COULD COME HOME..........in the end dh had another infection andwas in another rehab which abused him TO MY FACE...pulled dh out asap......in March 2020 when CDC said I couldn't be at his side.........

The only reason Cary is home now is that his doctor found an antibiotic that he could take orally that he isn't allergic to that is strong enough to finish doing the job. I'm keeping a check on his BP, O2, heart rate, and temp. Any problems with any of these, he goes right back to ER.

We had a lot of rain here yesterday which causes my internet to act up, so I decided to spend my afternoon organizing the pile of stuff that has collected in the den. Some needed to go to the garage, some needed to be vacuum sealed, some needed to be put in boxes, some to the back room, etc. It took a while, but it is all straightened out now. Some food has to remain in the den as there is no place else to put it, but it looks neater :) I also found someplace to stash some more vac sealed bags of rice and beans. Probably have enough room for another 20 or 30 pounds. That is probably all I will be getting in the near future as I am more than well stocked on canned and freezer goods.

Also straightened out my bathroom closet where I had just been shoving OTC meds, soap and the like. Finally have it in some kind of order so found a little extra space.

Oh, I forgot to mention. I don't know if it's done at all hospitals, but at ours, patients are given personal toiletry items like soap, body creams, mouthwash, toothpaste, tooth brushes, cleansing wipes, body wash, etc. Every single day, Cary was brought these items, so by the time he came home, I had accumulated quite a bit of them. I added everything to my stash here at home. I have an emergency bag that has all these type of items already in it that I took to the hospital with us, so Cary didn't have to use any of the items they brought him. Nice!

I've found that by using the Walmart app, things sometimes are considerably cheaper than shopping in the store.

I used the Walmart pick up thing once and didn't have a dollar limit. I only bought like 12$ worth. So I don't know.

YES you must advocate for your loved in the hospital. Just like you guys, I questioned and researched everything. I caught mistakes almost always unless I had to leave but they weren't too serious.
I even taught the ICU nurses how to do the dialysis type he was on at that time. Later I put my foot down and got us training for home hemodialysis. We did that till his transplant.
I can't even think what would have happened if I wasn't there.
I was usually very nice and equitable. Good teams got treats and homemade goodies and Krispy Kreme.
I kept the patient advocate on speed dial for every hospital.

And I kept all the supplies too lol. Our surgeon would give what wasn't used in the sterile trays for small surgeries he had
They really pile up and come in handy.

Boys and I worked at the pantry yesterday. I'm working with my son and deco for his place. Very minimal.
It's been raining since last night and all day.
Horse is starting to get around better and probably getting stir crazy. But she will have to stay put for now.
Daughter still canning daily. We got 48 acorn squash, 18 pumpkins, 18 watermelon, and about 75 butternut squash. I took some to pantry as a tithe.

Trick or treat tomorrow.

Everyone stay safe, get some rest.

if you have use for pumpkins - canning or animal feed >>> the truck gardeners are dumping their leftover Halloween pumpkins - just saw a FB posting for a local farm looking to get the overstock cleaned up ....

Prayers for Judy and her husband.

Arkansas covid cases are falling rapidly. There are only about 300 in the hospital with Covid across the whole state. Many people are self medicating with ivemectin from the feed stores. It was flying off the shelf for awhile. Sales have slowed as people have what they think is needed. You see very few people wearing mask anymore. Life is getting back to normal. People I know are still getting Covid-19. None have been hospitalized. Some have used ivemectin, some have gotten the infusion.

We got some rain. But it did not get up to my pond repair work. I added some more rocks behind my repair job. I know the water will put a lot of pressure on that area. I need to add a few more big rocks behind it. I really want to have a place to take the boys fishing. I have seen fish in this pond when the sun is right.

Hubby worked on our wood heating stove. He replaced a part and some broken fire bricks. We just have to make sure the flue is clean before we start our first fire. Next week looks to be like we will need it. I have a few more plants to bring in before the nights get into the 30s.

Mississippi Covid numbers are way down, too. As of yesterday, we only had 309 reported cases overnight for the whole state. I don't know how many of those were/are hospitilized. While Cary was in the hospital, there were no cases there, and the Covid wing had been closed down.

I stopped into Publix this morning as they had some BOGO's that were good and they had Del Monte veggies at $1 a can. Expensive for veggies, but they had two varieties I can never find here---gold and white corn mixed, and whole green beans. I will probably go back for more as those are missing on my shelves. I like the mixed corn much better than regular corn and the whole green beans remind me of my mother. I still can't find green beans and potatoes anywhere and I've been looking for months. I have some on the shelf but would really like more.

They also had rice-a-roni as a bogo so more of those came home with me as well.

Prayers up for Judy, I’ve been worried about her too.

SB- So sorry to hear about your DH being sick again. Prayers up for you both.

I finally made it to the Mennonite store the other day. Bought some celery seed, celery flakes, black peppercorns, sage, cinnamon sticks and whole nutmegs. Also got my Sam’s order in, 3 different shipments for a small order of 7 item, crazy.

I'm hearing one thing and one thing only....food! Learning from history with an economic implosion food becomes primary above almost anything else. While I have enough I keep on buying more. Spent $70 for close to 70 gravy and sauce mix packets, the type you add a cup of water bringing to a boil and making gravy. Picked up spaghetti sauce packets, pork gravy, chicken, brown and ham gravy mixes.

In addition while I have a lot of freeze dried hash browns in cartons as well as potato pearls and restaurant size scalloped potato type cartons and #10 cans of various potato products I'm putting away about 70 mashed potato packets. These are the type where you just add water [Hungry Jack brand] and don't need to add butter and milk as it has the milk solids included in the packet.

You can whip these up in minutes and use your gravy packets and then with canned veggies and meats you can whip up nice meals or casseroles.

Lot's of starches of course and in normal times I like to limit those as much as possible but when times are not normal things such as this are easy to prepare, requires minimal other resources and are made quickly.
The mashed potatoes are a good idea, I have quite a few and since I'v been sick I hadn't though of them, this is something I can fix, thanks.

Judy
