Sneaking in a day late again.....

Spent the weekend taking a class, so was pretty much worn out by the time I got done Sunday late afternoon - made one stop and that was it.

Aqua aerobics with the neighbor lady this morning; then made up a triple batch of hot cocoa mix after I got home, and carried in an armful of clothing I picked up for the boys - 5 winter weight outfits of fleece lined running pants/hooded sweatshirts, 2 more jacket weight hooded sweatshirts, 2 more pair fleece lined running pants, 4 long sleeve t-shirts, a dress shirt, plus a jacket! I need to clear out the summer clothing from their dressers/closets and get the warm stuff put in before they come back again - I have to work this weekend, so should have a week plus to get it done...

Nothing much planned for the rest of the day other than a trip to the indooor range after lunch - I may try to sneak in a nap later in the afternoon though! Hoping that granddaughter contacts me later with a schedule for the sectionals games...

Haven't had a glimpse of the weekly ads yet; mid-week ads that came out last Wednesday weren't all that impressive, so I'm likely to just save back the shopping $$ this week unless there is a good Hallowe'en candy deal lurking out there. I never think I have enough for the trick or treaters - and always have some left over! Last year, some folks were moving in to daughter's neighborhood that evening, so we took quite a bit of it to them :) I've also donated it to the women's shelter and food bank, so I guess it doesn't go to waste (or MY waist either lol!) I am keeping an eye out for dry and evaporated milk to go on sale as I'd like to bump my stocks of both; also waiting for butter to go on sale, and dates/holiday nuts to appear at Aldi again so that I can stock up.

Well, I'd better go toss some lunch together before we just decide to take naps sooner than later!

Take care all; have a blessed week!

Busy week at work, with various shift swaps going on - it took 4 different people who wanted different portions of different shifts off, but I managed to get off work this comingn Saturday for our football team's first game in the playoffs; best part was that the other folks also got days/time off that they wanted, so it worked out well for everyone. Looking forward to freezing my fanny off on those metal bleachers while cheering on the team - might have to join daughter and her friends in their game of 'Guess What's In The Yeti Cup' if it's too cold

I did pick up a case of evaporated milk at Aldi on my way home from the dentist on Tuesday - feel a little better having it on hand, but I still want to stock up on a few more cases as it is so handy for making cocoa, cream soups, cream gravy and white sauce. While I was at Aldi, I found some white button mushrooms on clearance for 69 cents/8oz box at Aldi so bought all they had and ran them through the dehydrator when I got home; they will be good to cook when making white sauce for chicken or tuna cassaroles. I also picked up some .223 and 5.56 since Rural King was across the road - and then had to laugh when Hubby came in the door from work and plopped down more of the same on the kitchen table. So good to have a like minded partner! (Even if he did have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to that meeting of the minds :)

Reckon I'd better be heading on upstairs to bed - 0430 is gonna come 'round a lot sooner than I'd like.

Take care all; stay safe out there!

Sold 5 cord of wood when PFDs came out.

Started parting out a spare atv engine on EBay, plus other scrounged parts. Some of the parts are going for nearly 250.

Did some shooting and reloading during the nice fall weather, cleaned and zeroed my long guns.

Ordered portable wood stove for bug out location.

Must be getting chilly in the shop where Hubby works; this morning he loaded up the drum of 'used' oil from changing the oil on various vehicles/equipment around the farm and took it in to work with him - the shop heater runs on waste oil :) He also decided to skip his IDPA shoot today as it's in the 30's with a strong NNW wind blowing. I told him that I'm tougher than he is 'cause I still plan to bundle up and go to the football game early this afternoon  I have a fleece blanket, fleece lined leggings that will fit under my jeans, a wool sweater and light windbreaker to wear under my team hoodie - and if I can get there early enough to get a good seat, the announcer's box will block the west wind! If not, I have a thin plastic tablecloth I can clip to the blanket with binder clips to block most of the wind. I will admit to stopping at Rural King on the way home from work to pick up one of those hunter's 'Hot Seat' pillows, and also 3 big bags of the instant hand warmer packets - a couple bags of which will go over the fence to the cheerleaders and football players. I'll check with granddaughter a bit later in the morning to see if I need to pick up stocking caps or gloves for her or any of the other cheerleaders before the game - hope there is a good supply of purple hats/gloves in town lol! I heard a rumor that the guy who makes the pulled pork for the sandwiches served in the concession stand loaded up a bunch of foil wrapped baking potatoes in his cooker as well - if that's true, they will make good hand warmers as well - and I might not need to fix any supper tonight!

Since I was at Rural King anyway, I picked up some 5.56; and noticed that they still had the Mossberg shotgun in stock that I'd been looking at a couple weeks ago. Mentioned that to Hubby when I got home last night, and asked him to stop at RK on the way home from work today to pick me up some bird feed and potting soil - hope he took the hint

Hmmm.... my coffee cup is empty; don't know how that happened, but I better fill it back up!

Take care all - wishing you a wonderful weekend!

LOL! Got a call from granddaughter as I was driving to town to go to the football game - the cheerleaders needed gloves :) I had a $3 off $15 coupon for Dollar General, so that helped with the cost of $21/14 pair of gloves. They were also happy to see the handwarmers that I tucked in the bag with the gloves! There was a little sleet and snow during the game, but it didn't seem to dampen the enthusiasm of the players or spectators either one...

Dropped granddaughter at home after the game, then made another trip to Dollar General as I had 2 - $2 off $10 DG brands products which I used to purchase a total of 8 bath towels @ $2.50 each. Drove across the road to the grocery store next and bought:
12 - jars Ragu pasta sauce @ 99 cents each
6 cans each of store brand cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup @ 49 cents each
1 - gallon milk @ $3.69 (outrageous!)
4 - bags frozen veggies @ 79 cents each
4 - 12 pks of soda for an upcoming gathering @ 4/$11
1 - marked down head of cauliflower for 99 cents
I had a $3 cash back voucher, 2 - $2/2 12 pk soda coupons, a free milk coupon, and 2 - 50 cent/2 Ragu coupons to deduct from the total; plus got $1cash back toward a $3 voucher.

Last stop was CVS for 3 - 12 pks of soda @ $3/$10, plus 3 jugs of Purex laundry detergent at $1.99 each. I used 3 - $1/1 coupons on the Purex, plus a $2 mailer Extra Care Buck and a $5 prescription reward Extra Care Buck to drop the cost to $6 and tax.

Hubby used half a jar of spaghetti sauce (not the Ragu; it was rotated into stock!) and some ground beef that he had cooked to make a pan of spaghetti for supper; with plenty left over. I have some bell peppers I picked from the garden that I need to use in the next week, so will cut them into lobes, stuff them with meatloaf mix, and pour the other half of the jar of spaghetti sauce over them before popping them in the slow cooker. Any leftovers will either be chopped up and used as filling for lasagna or as a base for goulash - whichever one sounds yummiest at the time.

Can't believe that my eyes are trying to close on me at 8pm, but they sure are - must have been all that fresh air this afternoon! - so I reckon I'll close for now.

Take care, all...

Been a rough weekend - I went to the ER as a pt on Friday. I have osteoarthritis in my right foot, and some tendinitis or gout - not sure which. Doc put me on a steroid taper (yuck) and indocin. I'd complain, but it helped immensely. Spent the day putzing around and trying to stay off my feet. I did get some tinctures started, and a little cleaning up done. Back to work tomorrow, but just for half a shift.

Renee - the question is ....who won the game??

We did!! 44-06! We were 37-0 at half time, so they ran the clock - so we were only about 2/3rds frozen instead of fully so

One of our coaches had a light CVA (stroke) back in early October; so the kids got together to welcome him back to the football field in high style at the game. He has a bushy red beard, so the stands were filled with kids of all sizes sporting fake bushy red beards - I have a very cute group photo of our cheerleaders wearing their "Coach" beards :)

Once again, I am reminded how truly blessed I am to live in this community!

They say sour cherry juice is good for gout, Moldy - but I have to admit that the Indocin works faster; ditto the steroids!

Steroid taper - and stay off your feet; those two sooooo do not go together!! We've got another month or so before 'steroid psychosis' starts showing up in the unit... I've been known to clean for 18 hours straight when on prednisone for bronchitis; I tell Hubby if I get wacky to just tie a rope around the foot of the bed and the other end to my foot - but to give me enough range that I can clean the closet or something to keep me occupied

Hope you had a better day at work yesterday!
