Good Morning, All! Getting the thread started for the week; join in, please; and let us know what type of prepping you're getting done!

Hubby picked up a different gun safe for my vehicle recently when Rural King had a sale; now to find a time when he and the van are both at home to get it installed!

Added more chocolate to the stash last night as CVS had a sale this past week - 3 bags of fun size Mars brand chocolate bars @ 3/$9 - $2 manufacturer's coupon - $2 store coupon = $5 out of pocket; then got back a $3 Extra Care Buck. Waiting to see what they have on sale this next week as I want to stock batteries but am waiting for a buy one get one free sale :)

Dang, there goes the 0530 alarm; guess I'd better go finish getting ready for work - it's donut day, so I have to leave a little early.

Take care all; stay safe, stay happy!

Sigh-I just need to stay up here. Going down to Main really sets my teeth on edge. TBK is my main news source, and lately the amount of vitrol toward women is....excessive. I get the whole thing re: Kavanaugh, I do, but I don't like being lumped in with a bunch of emotional harpies.

Anyhow.... DD brought my mom to see me (drove 8 hours), so we are going to be having fun all week. Plans are to pick apples and feed to cows, do a bit of baking (including a chocolate cake for DH), shop a little (mom needs some new boots), and touring the Celestial Seasonings plant in Boulder. I've got a break from school this week, so I'm making good use of the time. And as far as my complaint above, I"m making good use of the ignore button! Makes my life much more pleasant!

Take heart... a certain poster is being discussed by the mods... things should calm down considerably. In the meantime, there is the ignore feature... it's wonderful for keeping your blood pressure out of the stroke range!

Have fun with your mom... treasure every day!

I felt strange sense of satisfaction this week. The growing season with long warm fall. But enough already, it was time to harvest : potatos, cabbage, onions, garlic. I wonder how much it is all worth, with shipping fees, packaging, fuel, physical labor....idk, but it is done.

I gave away care boxes to friends. I figured to share it all. Pretty fun seeing happy faces.

In the evenings, I split wood and restacked a cord. I tried something new and stacked it round circle, trying out idea I read about.

I am thinking L48 will have rough winter, based on Alaska's weather pattern.

Stay safe

I checked the bees. They all seem to be doing good. Even the weak hive has nearly a full super to go into winter with. Blocking their enterance down to just a few inches and extra feeding seems to have done the trick. We may even get a little more honey from our two year old hive when we pull the extra super off for winter.

I need to plant the rest of my ginseng seeds and dig more snake root before the first frost. I fell over the dog in the dark a week ago. I landed on my knee hard. It has really slowed me down. It is better every day though. A mid 50s woman does not bounce any more. I have told hubby that when these dogs are gone; no more in the house. I am tired of cleaning up after them and getting up at night to let them in and out. He does what he can, but he is disabled, so I try to make life easier for him. I depend on him for mechanical stuff and things i can`t do. We make a good team. The dogs are giant breeds one is 10 years old the other 8. The one I fell over is 230# . He is usually on my hubbys side of the bed.

Good deals on the ground beef, ground turkey and Bisquick, Ivan; and so nice of you to share your garden bounty! (Though now I'm hungry for cabbage, darn it!) I will be looking up the circle wood stacking to see what that is all about. Moldy, so wonderful to have your Mother there for a visit - and to have time off school while you are visiting; sounds like you all will be keeping busy! Is DD staying as well? Hope your knee is healing well, Digger; sounds like all else is going well for you!

We've had two exciting things happen this week so far - on Sunday, older grandson (age 7) went squirrel hunting with the other grandpa (daughter's dad) and bagged two fat squirrels. He also learned to clean them; and conned grandpa into cooking them - he was so-so on the taste but little brother (age 6) cleaned his plate and asked for more; might be his turn to go hunting with grandpa next time  The other exciting thing was finding a photo of a well fed/well muscled bobcat on one of our game cameras - hope he's just a passer-by as we planted wildlife plots to fatten up the turkey, quail, pheasant and deer - and it wasn't so those critters could fatten him up!

I've had my fanny kicked by some extensive dental stuff this week; had to swap around days at work for recovery, etc... and will be so glad when it is done and over with; hoping today will be my last trip up there for a couple of weeks. Sometimes I think the drive through the city is worse than the dental work..... well, at least until I'm sitting in that chair  I usually manage to avoid all but a few blocks of 'city' driving by taking country roads/highways to a less used interstate, which takes me to within those few blocks of the office; but had to run an errand for daughter one day that took me through traffic, and will need to run another one this afternoon - but I'm planning on making it a leisurely trip in - hit the drive up at the bank to cash a check, stop by the pool for an hour, pop into the orchard for a bushel of apples (boys here on Sunday; applesauce day!!), then a quick stop at Rural King on the edge of town to pick up a wheelbarrow and manure fork for daughter before zigging and zagging around the worst of the traffic areas to hit the dentist. Once done with that, it will be a quick hop on to the interstate to get me to the rural highway that goes to daughter's town.

No major stocking up done so far this week although I did manage to pick up another package of regular Tide pods for Daughter for $2.95 after coupons, and snagged a total of 4 more packages of Tide Simply laundry pods for 95 cents each after coupons - I need to remember to drop those off at the Legion the next time I'm up that way when they are open - can't leave 'em in the car as we've had below freezing temps the past couple of nights. The nearby Legion is such a blessing; they keep a pantry of household type supplies for the service members who are getting out of the hospital.

I also added about 8 bags of Hallowe'en candy - 6 at CVS and 2 at Dollar General. While I'm at Rural King, I need to walk down the strip mall a little way to pop into Dollar Tree to pick up glow sticks for the trick or treaters that can't have/don't like candy; need to pick up a couple of treat bowls to put candy in as well as I'll drop one off at each the two local nursing homes early Hallowe'en evening.

Well, I'm not getting anything done sitting on my fanny; guess I'd better go fold the towels, throw my scrubs in the dryer, and get ready to head to town.

Take care all; hope you are all staying safe out there!

I started a thread on the main about what you are doing lately just to get more attention to prepping. The folks posting regularly on this forum are amazing.
