Our hospital is having to reschedule elective surgeries because we don't have enough beds. We're actually over max census because we're doubling up family members in the same room, bringing in oxygen tanks to supplement the in room oxygen.
My unit is supposedly the only 'Clean' unit in the hospital - all our patients have to have a negative rapid Covid test before being allowed on the unit; otherwise they go to a medical floor. We still have to mask/double mask (N95 with sugical mask over - same N95 but different surgical mask for each patient), face shield, gloves, and anything more than a med pass or brief physical assessment requires a gown. We're down 4 out of 13 RNs and 2 out of 7 CNA from either Covid or a spouse/child having Covid so not able to come in due to having close contact exposure; plus 1 more CNA restricted due to being high risk.
