MARANTHA!! Even so, come LORD JESUS!!!
It SNOWED!!!

Probably 3/4 inch on the ground.....enough to make going down the steps out of the RV an ADVENTURE, and a SLIPPERY one!! I'm not going out there yet!

Picture of DAN-DAN and Bubba goat in front of the heater this morning......IF I can get it to load!!

Danny is "love bitting" Bubba, or grooming him.

We had our first wintery mix of percipitation last night. All melted since we were in the upper 70s on Thursday. We actually did not go below freezing until about daylight.

The rental place delivered the trackhoe before noon yesterday. Hubby and son got a lot done. The 3 year old grandson got to drive it with Papa from one area to another. He was really mad at us girls when we made him come to the house. He ate a snack, crawled on the couch, and slept till the men came back in. His dad had to wake him to go home.

Our pond that we thought was repaired has lost all the water. I was so disappointed. Maybe we can get some red clay to spread in the bottom to try to fix it.

21*F and about 2" of snow on the ground when I got up this morning - I fed the cats, grand-dog and grandsons; only the grandsons are still out playing in the snow lol! Those leftover cloth masks from covid are coming in handy to help keep their faces warm. Those boys have grown again; gonna have to hit the thrift stores, and - in March - keep an eye out for closeout winter gear to buy for next year.

Warm here this morning. Finishing laying boxes for the new hens. Combs starting to redden up so laying should be soon! More cleaning at BIL's house. Cutting the last of the cane today. We grew TOO much cane! Chipping it up for the chickens! Sante Fe soup on the back burner and bread rising. Hopefully my energy level and my body's willingness to work will come close to matching today!!

It's still sorta rainy out this morning, so nothing is getting done outside. We're pretty much finished with all outside chores, anyway. Temps dropped from 77 down to 38 last night. High today, 47, with freeze warnings out tonight at, 28. We have the wood heater going, so it's nice and toasty warm in here.

I'll be doing a bit of light house chores, today. I'll also lay out more ground beef from the freezer to thaw for another canning day, Tuesday. I'll cook it all out, Monday.

No cooking for me, tonight. Our community has its Fall fish fry, tonight, sponsored by our community volunteer fire department. $14/plate, plus any donations you want to give. Fileted fried catfish, hushpuppies, slaw, French fries, slices of onions, pickles, and lemons. Plenty of desserts for everyone, too. Traditional southern fish fry. Cary and I will eat our fill, I'm sure! The firefighter cooks always do a great job.

Finally dug out all of my oxygen, acetylene, argon, argon/CO2 bottles and exchanged them for full ones. All (six) small bottles but one.

Grabbed a spare 10lb spool of ER70-S MIG welding wire.

Dropped off a coupla regulators to be rehabbed.

$250 plus whatever the regulators cost when they come back.

Season hasn't opened yet here but can't wait for that first tenderloin! Congrats!

It's primitive weapon season here. DS and DDIL pulled out first thing this morning, before daylight, headed to their favorite spots. They love venison, and she pressure cans most of theirs as ground venison, except for the tenderloins. We don't like the taste of venison. I ate it so much growing up that I've just lost my taste for it. Although, we would eat it if that's all we had.

My new corn sheller came in yesterday. It throws kernels everywhere. I will need to fabricate a thing to attach to a tote in order to have it below the rim so less corn hits the floor. Also, the edges like to bite me since there was no finish work done on the tool, and all the edges are sharp. A lot of the cobs are small this year as well, and I still have to strip those by hand. Eh. It'll do.

While you are fabbing stuff, make a shim that puts smaller ears closer to the working plate?

SB our temps are about the same as yours, 70's yesterday, 50's today, very cold tonight. DH just came in and said its misting outside right now.

DH is busy processing his deer, he's so proud about bringing home the bacon, so to speak. He's making jerky and grinding the rest. First deer he did mostly steak and some ground. We tried the "hamburger" steaks that I cooked and froze. They were good but I think I'll not cook them first next time.

I rarely eat ground beef that venison tastes the same to me. DH does not go after the big bucks, the one he got last night was male and had tiny horns, no spots. A couple of times this year I bought a package of hamburger patties from grass fed beef and they were not particularly good, so its ground venison for us. It simply tastes better to us, so I guess we are odd. Vive la difference.

The second table I bought for the side of my chair is small, smaller than I thought it would be, but at least it won't take up as much space as the tv table and it has two bottom shelves and wheels. DH had it put together for me when I got up this morning, he is so good to me.

I think I've come down with an inner ear infection. I have no fever, but am so dizzy, I can't stand for my head to move. I have had a bit of ringing in my right ear for a few days, off and on, but no pain. My BP is normal, so I know that's not it. I'll be treating, again, with garlic oil. If anyone knows of any other home remedies, I would appreciate them.

My dear Aunt Fannie always treated ear aches/infections with oil of peppermint on a cotton ball. Never directly in the ear, just on the cotton and placed in the ear. Always works for me.
