I canned 9 pints of Turkey broth, a little cranberry sauce, and a couple of jars of cuties to try. I have been told to let the cuties sit for a week or 2 before trying them. That is the hard part. I would can more if we knew we liked them.
I'm extremely curious about how the cuties turn out. Did you remove the skin from each section? That's what is done with mandarin oranges because the skin turns bitter. Just wondering. Please report back when you open a jar to test it.

Just ordered six cases of canned cat food from Chewy's. Was supposed to be eight, but they were out of two of our choices. A little over a two month supply for us with the six cases. Recently purchased some at Petsmart as well. Decided to order as what we usually buy is getting harder to find.

Gave the vacuum sealer a workout this morning. Did up some rice in 2 lb packages for the regular pantry. Have a lot packed already for LTS in mylar with oxy absorbers. Also did a bunch of tea bags so they will last longer. Had 18 boxes--British tea. It was on sale last week at Publix and I was going to get more-$3 a box, but they were out. Yesterday I was back and it was $4,29 a box. It had been $3.89 a box for a long time, so a 10% jump in price. These are 80 count boxes, so I am set for a bit.

Spent the yesterday wiring the green shed so I can get power there. Today was the well shed. I am almost done before the connections can be made to the breaker boxes and power is flowing. Yes, I am slow and take far too many trips to Home Depot, but then again it gets done and does work.

side note: Home Depot and Lowes are really running low on electrical stuff. Lots of empty spots.

I have continued working on the concrete expansion so that next year we can begin to pour concrete for our circular driveway. We estimate it will be 350-400 feet when done and we will pour it all from 50 pound sacks.

Why?

Because for some damn reason in this town a year of concrete from the truck has premium charges out of my southern end and it costs over $500 for a single yard. If I order a full truck load, the costs drop to about $250 per yard.

I can do it by bags for under $160 per yard.

Also if we do it ourselves we save the unreliable methheads who charge $2+ per sq foot and would be able to get a good view of what we have. I would like to avoid that issue.

I have a picture of the overall view as it stands today. We still need to shovel rock for the concrete pan you see in the front. Sago Palm area. I also need to fill two planters with dirt and connect the water for the area. It should take another 2-3 weeks to get it all done. Just in time for the new year.

I made my first batch of ghee using the instructions in the video below. It came out good. Used the unsalted butter from Costco. The ghee smelled like the butter they put on popcorn at the movies with a little bit of a nutty taste. According to the video the ghee will last for a few months stored covered on a countertop in the kitchen. No refrigeration needed.

When it gets close to done watch it like a hawk. It browns fast. -OGM
