Well, it's 0200, and I"m headed to work. I work the next 7 days, then i"m off to see family for Thanksgiving. I may not be on here much, and I may not get much done. But that's OK. We did a ton of work last week, and I finished by making up some dishes for dinners this week. Hope you all have a great week!

Wishing you a good week at work, and a great Thanksgiving with family, Moldy!!

Last week was crazy busy!! I did manage to bring home 30 - 4# bags of sugar during the sale; now I just need to get them put away... Picked up a few more items here and there, mostly stuff that I would miss if it weren't available for some time - cocoa, tapioca, citrus canned in glass jars, spices, etc... Spent a little time one day while I was driving to work wondering if I could dehydrate orange juice concentrate, but forgot look any further in to it by the time I got to work.

There are very few sales this week that pique my interest - mainly just canned veggies for 49 cents each, and frozen veggies for 77 cents/1# bag - I may pick up some of the frozen veggies and dehydrate them for use in soups and stews before the sale ends, but that is all I really saw that was worthwhile. No room in the freezer for turkeys at the moment; and I'd rather use the space for beef in any case, not being a major fan of the bird

We are working on getting things buttoned up for winter around here - the weather has been so nice this fall that it has been hard to feel any urgency about doing so! Deer season is this weekend so we won't be doing any work outside, but there more than enough inside things that need done to keep us busy! I will admit that I am looking forward to the slower pace of winter though...

Well, I came down with a cold. Going through those cold med preps faster than I planned as this is my third cold since September. Grandchildren! Anyway, I had a few hours today to run a few errands and a few extra dollars. At Petsmart I bought 2 big bags of cat food. Each bag lasts a month and I'm up to 4 now. Have a year in canned cat food already. Then to Publix where I got some veggies at BOGO and had coupons, so I got some green beans with potatoes (which seem hard to find around here) and some diced potatoes, along with some BOGO shredded cheese which will get tossed in the freezer. Then to Walmart where I finished Christmas shopping for the grandkids and my better half (4 new sweatshirts).

There is a big city wide garage sale this Saturday that I hope to get to. Have another obligation at 11, so will only be able to be there for 2 hours, but hope to find some goodies during that time.

It's the season for it, Prudentwatcher - I spent the first two of my three days off mostly holding down the couch, having been blessed by youngest grandson with whatever preschool plague is going around at the moment. Gotta love those little ones, they are so sharing

Yesterday was a rough day; we had to have our dog euthanized. Poor old girl was at least 15 years old so she had a long time with us. It seems strange to be without a dog; I think this might be the only time in my life that I have been. Hubby is adamant that we will not be getting another one - and he is likely right to say so as our work schedules would make training a new pup (pups, if I had my way!) difficult. That said, the last time I actually went out and deliberately acquired a pet was in 1983, so.... All it takes is for one neighbor to tell another neighbor and that neighbor's neighbor to have a litter of pups and POOF! I have a puppy (or two) appear on my porch LOL - or at least that's the way it seems to happen hereabouts!

It had cooled off yesterday, and since Hubby and I were both a bit downhearted, it seemed like a good day to have a warm, filling soup for lunch, so I made this Cheesy Chicken Veggie soup:
1 quart home canned chicken broth
1 pint home canned chicken
1 bag frozen mixed veggies (I need to get back to Ruler Foods (Kroger brand) for more of these veggies - there are okra and lima beans in their mix!)(and potatoes!)
1 heaping tablespoon dried onions
1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
1 tablespoon dried celery leaves
1 bay leaf
Once the veggies were tender, I added in a can of cream of chicken soup, then chunked up about 1/5 of a pound bar of Velveeta cheese and put it in to melt. I'd have preferred to use shredded cheddar, but I needed to rotate the Velveeta, so in it went!

The neighbor lady called around 5 pm; she'd had an emotionally rough day as well and had tried to work it off doing outside chores but still had a lot of nervous energy to burn, so she picked me up and we went to town for supper. I'm pretty sure I was asleep shortly after 8:30 pm - which would explain my waking up at 0230 this morning  Hey - I'm getting the laundry caught up, so it's not all bad; right? (Which I'm sure I won't be thinking as I drag my fanny in the door after work this evening...)

And speaking of laundry, I need to go toss that load of blankets in the dryer - I unhooked the turnbuckles on the clotheslines and pulled the lines all to the far end so they wouldn't strangle my Buddy when he brought me a load of wood chip mulch on Monday to put down under my clothesline; then left them off until I have time to get another load of mulch to finish it up - hopefully, that will happen this weekend!

Take care all; don't let all the crazies out there get you down!

I'm hopeless, I stopped by Fred's in a town near me and looked through their clearance of foods. Progresso soups for .57 ea, I bought 15, corned beef hash for $1, I got 5. These were all they had of each. A bottle of BBQ sauce for .47, spicy mustard for .27, plus my monthly commodities for seniors. I was disappointed with that box, nothing really for Thanksgiving, boxed milk, 4 cans of french style green beans, 2 cans of fruit (I can remember when we got 8 cans a month about 5 years ago. Plus the velvetta type of cheese, wheat pasta, 2# of small white limas. I'm not ungreatful, but nothing special for Thanksgiving. We don't use milk so I always give that away, and usually the pasta too, I have alot of that put back and we rarely eat pasta. I need to haul it all in the house and try to find a place to store it, but I'm so tired.

This cold this week has really kicked my behind. Haven't done much, but did get my meds refilled. New insurance meant I had to transfer the prescriptions to a new pharmacy. I have a dr appt on Monday so I did my lab work this Monday and all the results were fine, so at least that is a relief. Will take care of shopping for Thanksgiving tomorrow and will throw in some extra canned veggies (on sale and with coupon) and will also stop by Dollar Tree to pick up another stack of cold meds as I'm going through these rather rapidly. Don't want to deplete the stock too far.

Eight extra canned veggies found their way into my cart at Publix and 6 boxes of cold meds at Dollar Tree--I didn't want to look too suspicious, even though I was sniffling! I will get more later. I also picked up 12 hours of overtime this weekend, which always comes in handy. Good thing I finished the laundry this afternoon.

LOL, I've gotten as many as 20 boxes of cold/allergy meds at the Dollar Tree, and no one blinked an eye. Unfortunately the boxes only have 12 tabs in each package, but the good thing is they work well, for me at least. Recently I found the same medication at walmart for 88 cents. I only grabbed a couple at the time. Those 20 boxes are long gone. I been able to hold off on taking allergy medication by putting Vics under each nostrile. Works well for me and I rarely have to take allergy meds before bedtime. I have gars of vics all around the house and in each vehicle, plus a small bottle in my purse. At my age I don't care if I smell like Vics, LOL.

We really need a Snoopy happy dance emote. Picked up a frozen turkey for next to nothing and sweet potatoes, lots of sweet potatoes!

I didn't want to get arrested! Aren't there some cold meds that you can only buy so many at a time because druggies use them to make meth? One look at my drippy nose and puffy eyes should have been enough to convince anyone that I really did need the meds for a cold, but I didn't want to push my luck.

The big garage sale was kind of a bust for me. Lots of stuff at good prices, but not what I was really looking for. I did get some towels and a baseball bat. It would have been great for someone looking to furnish a first apartment or get kids clothing.

There are some in drug stores and you have to sign for them, but the kind at Dollar Tree don't have the meth stuff in them, darn it, it worked so well.

We bought some large cans of fruit and green beans last night at the auction for $3 a can. I plan to dehydrate the green beans.

most of the cold medicine got locked up for not only for it's illegal meth manufacture usage but it also was being ripped off big time by the supply druggies - much more concern for the bottom line than anything else .... the Mex Cartel buys the meth chemicals by the tanker load directly from the factories ....
