Whew, what a day at work! So glad to be home; and especially glad to be off work for the next three days. Nothing much that piqued my interest in the Sunday ads as I looked through them on my lunch break other than Hershey bars on sale 2/$1 at Walgreen's - one quick stop on my way home (using $5 in points) and we are now set for chocolate bars to use in making s'mores this summer
Hubby gave me some good news when I got home this evening - a stray cat has moved into the machine shed; hopefully it will take care of any odd rodents that happen by. I'll put out feed for it in the mid morning only in order not to attract possums that tend to wander through the yard in the early morning or the raccoons that come out at dusk. I'm going to have to check our varmint laws - I'm not a fan of raccoons, and if they start getting into things or become aggressive, they will need to be removed. Maybe that shotgun Hubby got me for our anniversary will come in handy
Tomorrow will be a trip to the Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery; I will go early to place flowers on the graves of my parents, aunt and uncle; and to make sure that my father and uncle's graves are flagged. I do not think that we will make it to the other family cemeteries; we have taken responsibility for the care of family grave sites in our nearest town; other family members do the same in their towns. However, some of those folks are of my parent's generation, so we will likely have to step up to take over those duties soon.
The heat is supposed to be severe again tomorrow - 95*F. It was 93*F with a heat index of 98*F today. There was a tornado out in the countryside south of where I work (no loss of life; minimal damage); but we were blessed and had only a few raindrops both at work and at home. The weather is more like July/August than it is May/June; I hope it calms a bit as the summer progresses as I don't think I want 5 or 6 months of this weather! The heat is taking a toll - I put a piece of 1x6 board in the rain water tank to help give the honeybees easier access to water; and put up two more quart size hummingbird feeders as the ones that I had already put up are being swarmed.
Tuesday will be a work day here at home; hoping to finish whatever gardening Hubby and I don't get done tomorrow. We are supposed to have thunderstorms on Wednesday; that suits me fine as I have a 2 hour meeting at work; then two hours to wait, followed by a half hour + of competency check offs. I'm going to try to get some required education done during the wait time; it's not due until October, but can be done any time before then. I figure if I'm going to be hanging around, I might as well be getting paid to do so! Wednesday is also the day the sales start at the chain grocery store; if there is anything on my stock-up list on sale, I will stop by there on the way home.
Well, I can barely keep my eyes on the screen from all the yawning I'm doing; reckon I'd better give it up and head to bed!
Take care all; wishing you a good week!
