Ps: it took months of emails and phone calls, doc visit, etc. But finally got requisition form for me and Levi to have the test for x linked ALD that my nephew has.
I already tested my two other grandsons years ago.
I had to get my doc to just agree to recieve envelope from Kennedy Krieger. Doesn't even open it. I'll come get it.
It was a simple glucometer stick, enough to fill 4 circles on the blood spot card. I did it and mailed it myself. Same as before.
Anyway, should know next week. I'm believing for negative results!
I am relieved to get it done. Lot of hassel to get the ok. But Dr. Moser is the best and follows our extended family. She even waived the fees.
So far just my nephew and one of the granddaughter. She shouldn't have any issues though, this almost completely only affects males.
Prayers if you think about it.

We had some nice showers this week, but the garden soil was dry enough to walk on without it sticking to my shoes. Haven't heard how much we got, but it couldn't have been very much. Usually it takes a week for the surface of the garden to be that dry. I still need to plant the tomatoes and peppers I started and sweet potatoes. Everything else is in but a lot has not come up due to the extremely cool weather. I'm just hoping the seed hasn't rotted. So goal for tomorrow is to get the tomatoes and peppers in. I have Bible study so will have to work around that.

My potatoes are up and looking good as are the peas. Onions are really growing and beets starting to come up. I need to get someone to help me put up my fence to keep the rabbits out. Also, I'm concerned about being able to build up a berm for the sweet potatoes. My shoulder is still hurting a week after I did some heavy work a week ago. I know I cannot pound in posts and may not be able to shovel all that dirt for the berm. Also, I'm not sure I have enough fence or posts and hate to spend the money for them right now.

For those of you new to canning, freezing, dehydrating etc., check out ) National Center for Home Food Preservation | USDA Publications (uga.edu) You'll find all the most current information on everything there. The Ball Blue Book is also an excellent source of correct information. However. do not use older versions of the Ball book as some of the information has been changed for safety.

I was given a bag of chicken hind quarters at the mobile food pantry yesterday. That is another project for tomorrow. I'm going to roast them in the oven, pick off the meat and freeze it. I already have 59 pints of canned chicken so don't feel the need to can any more. So glad I've gotten my pantry inventory mostly finished so I know what I have and what I don't. Once the chicken is frozen in small batches, I can easily pull it out for chicken salad, other recipes or just lunch sandwiches. That huge frozen bag was never going to fit in my freezer anyway.

My dd from AZ is coming Sunday to spend a few days. I'm praying the flight does not get canceled. Usually when I have company, I spend a lot of time pre-preparing food, but her throat is still paralyzed so she's continues to use a nutrition pump. Still my mind keeps going dd loves this so I should fix that for her. Makes me sad for her that she can't eat. It has been over a year now so guess she's well used to it.

We got to know our Fedx driver and I have the UPS driver's phone number and he said to call him if there were any issues.

I don't want strangers coming up here at all. although since the theft of the small amount of gas, we are not locking everything up. That is except DH's workshop where he has all of his tools. I gently remind him of things.

My main concentration right now is to get the preps we have organized, that could take me the rest of my life, LOL
Boy did I screw that up, we ARE locking everything up, except the workshop, DH has to rebuild the doors.

Oh Joy, I got a new to me lift chair for $240. Its very comfortable and fit all my particulars. We had to go to a big town to get it. The lady was so nice, she said she looked at my profile and saw someone she knew to be a nice person. I don't blame her for doing that, you just can't be too careful who you let in your world. I'm a happy camper and hopefully I can sleep again without waking up in pain.

While we were in the big town we ate lunch at Golden Corral. I was shocked, it was $30 and change for the lunch menu with only water to drink. I may not need to eat for a couple of days.

It got a lot hotter today than had been guest at.

We ate lunch at Golden Corral, too, today, Judy! My aunt took us there for lunch. She usually has a huge lunch prepared, but she wanted to take us out, instead. I ate fried filleted catfish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, and French fries, til I thought I would explode. Then, I had a piece of coconut cream pie, banana pudding, and a piece of chocolate French silk pie for dessert. I'm in a food coma right now. No supper for us tonight, or tomorrow night, either, LOL!

We had a great trip, but we got lost! What an adventure! We always travel the Natchez Trace Parkway to Florence, AL, where my aunt lives. We get on the Parkway in Tupelo, MS., and get off just outside of Florence. We've been this way for years, and never think anything about it. Well, we were traveling along, and a Detour sign pops up. Yeah, we were made to get off the Trace in a small little backwoods podunk town that we had never heard of, and were expected to find our way on to Florence from there. First, we had no idea where we were, since there are no road signs on the Trace. We were hearing banjos at this point!!!! We wound up driving about 50 miles out of the way trying to find our way to my aunt's house! I finally had to call her, after we found our selves on a back road in a corn field (!!!!!.),and get her to give us her street address, so Cary could plug it in to the GPS. We finally made it, and we all got a big laugh out of the whole thing. Next time, we will use the GPS from start to finish. I don't care if we're just going to town!!!!! Never leave home without it!!!

For those of you who don't know. The Natchez Trace Parkway is a winding wilderness area that runs through 3 states, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. If you get off the Parkway, you had better know where you are in relation to the next town, or you're lost.

We stayed at the Natchez Trace Park in Tennessee several years ago when the dogwoods were in bloom. Such a beautiful place. Sounds like adventure!

The Parkway starts in Natchez, MS, and runs all the way to Nashville, TN. We've traveled the whole length of it several times over the years. It's a beautiful wilderness drive. We're only familiar with what's right around our area (Tupelo, MS), though.

As we were leaving this morning to go look at the chair, DH said do you notice anything different and I looked around and the doors to his workshop were closed and locked up. He didn't have to redo the doors. The gate to the saw mill and barn area was closed up and locked too. Of course these precautions won't stop someone that is determined but will be a deterance. We are so blessed.
