Good Morning, All!

Pretty sure I got the dates right this week :p
(Stops for a big gulp of coffee before continuing lol!)

There is another beautiful week in the offing here - at least my three days off are supposed to be nice! - so I'm planning to spend as much time as possible outside.

Hubby picked up the concrete mix as requested, so I am going to try to get some water samples taken early in the week before we pour the well covers - there was a sort of dump in that area years and years ago, so I want to make sure the water isn't contaminated. If it is, we will probably fill in the wells instead; but will still need the concrete to cap them.

He plans to sharpen mower blades and chainsaw blades today, so those will be ready to go; and he took care of tiller maintenance yesterday so I should be able to hit the ground running - well, except for the fact that I can still barely walk or lift my arms above my shoulders after my day of working with the handyman on Friday  Got charged by a patient and shoved down the hall a ways yesterday until another co-worker intervened so between the effects of the grab and shove and the adrenaline dump, everything aches!! Oh, it hurts to get older - but as my father always said "At least I'm still here to complain about it!"

I've never doubted that the Lord is looking out for me, and yesterday at work didn't do a thing to change my mind. We'd asked for extra help at 3pm, but the NHO forgot until we called her at 3:30pm. 4:15pm, a Tech walked on to the unit and said "I don't know why I was sent here; I was in ER sitting with a patient and they sent another person down and told me to come up here." 5pm, I got charged and within seconds the tech had the patient up against wall with his body weight and one arm, and was peeling the guy's hands off me with the other one. When we finally got things settled down again, I looked at him and said "Well, I reckon I know why you were sent up here; and boy am I ever glad you were!"

It's Donut Day at work, so I'm going to need to finish this up so I can leave early enough to stop and pick them up :) Take care all; wishing you all a safe and productive week!

Glad you're OK, Renee. I"ve been assaulted a couple times in my career, without major injuries (thanks to God). Working in the ER, I can usually see a patient ramping up, but I imagine that's difficult in the area you're in. We don't have security - I just call the cops. Our little police force is great, with good professional people.

A friend from work is coming over today to learn how to make jelly/jam. She wants to learn so she can make some prickly pear jelly for her grandpa. Sweet girl.

If the wind isn't too bad tomorrow, we'll go make pig feed. I am buying 7 piglets from one of the neighbors, and they should be here on the 17th. I need to walk the pigpen and check some of the posts as well. I work Tuesday, I have an interview for school on Wednesday, then who knows for the rest of the week. If the weather holds, I'd like to get more manure spread. Even though I told DH we'd need to do a small garden this year, it's not looking like it. Most of the peppers he started are coming up... (I'll go county)... he started 400 pepper plants. And of course, one of my jobs for today is going to be starting tomatoes! (and more herbs and flowers).

He was looking at my canned tomatoes -and said "I don't think you need to can any tomatoes this year'. Yep - that would be correct. So what we don't use fresh, I'll give away or sell.

Well, back to work. Hope all of you have a great week.

Heavens to Betsy, I'm glad I didn't go into the line of work you girls did. As an old retired lady, I find it difficult to get near as much done in a week as you do on your days off. Tis time to clear out a freezer which is not working too well and put the items in it elsewhere. So I learned how to can apple pie filling and cherry pie filling. When I froze those cherries and apples, I froze them with 1/2 the sugar required to make pie so I have to thaw and drain them so I can use the juice with Perma Flo to cook up and can the fruit. Learning experience for me. I have not worked with Perma Flo before. I only make 4 quarts at a time as that is about what I can lift and handle. Also thawing some raspberries and straining it for jelly. I have made only 2 batches of it so far but it is very pretty looking at the light thru the filled jar. They all look good on the pantry shelves and I have quite a bit more frozen ready to be worked up. So it is busy time for me and nice to add the heat to the house when it is still chilly outside.

We did have to evacuate because of fire. I sure would have hated to have lost every thing. We were lucky this time.

Very glad to know that you were safe, Barb; but sad that you had to evacuate; that had to be terribly frightening for you!

Don't know what this fire is going to do for the price of beef and hay. Glad you are safe, Barb.

I got accepted into the school, so in July I start working on becoming a certified clinical herbalist!! I am so excited!

On the way home, DH and I stopped at the discount grocery - blackberries, strawberries, and bananas (19c/lb!) came home with me, along with salad fixings and some bread (and chocolate!).

We always have a bunch of spaghetti squash and I get pretty tired of it. Tonight I made 'squash tots'. Mix together 1 1/2 cups cooked spaghetti squash, 1 cup panko bread crumbs, and 1/2 cup parmesean cheese. Let it set a few minutes, then form in small patties. I fried mine (in bacon grease, of course!), sprinkled with garlic salt - and they were pretty darn yummy. DH says they would go good with eggs for breakfast - and I"ve still got a bunch of squash.

I actually posted that in the wrong place, but it was a rude awakening in how lax I have become in being prepared to bug out so i guess it can belong here too.
