Mornin' folks! It's a bright and sunny Sunday here - still a bit chilly out and the wind picked up some, but I'm planning to get outside and do some clean up work in the yard today - if it's not too wet to take the lawn tractor through the yard. I'm also planning to take the feather blankets and hang them out on the clothesline to get fluffed up as we're likely to need them at few more times this year. I don't trust the month of March at all - blizzards, ice storms, torrential rain; it brings 'em all

After the yard clean up is done, I'd like to clean the winter detritus out of one of the small garden beds and poke some beet seed into the soil - having a craving for beet greens lately so I'm likely low on Vitamin C, A, and iron. I'll pull a bag of last year's greens out of the freezer to cook today, but it will be good to have fresh ones on hand. Think while I've got my head stuck in the freezer, I'll snag a bag of meatloaf mix and make up a pan of BBQ meatballs to go along with the beet greens :)

Only other plans are to fill the birdfeeders, run a load of the latest batch of jars through the dishwaher, and head up to the pool to exercise for an hour this afternoon; hoping to con Hubby or the neighbor lady into going along. I will be glad when the neighbor gets her knee straightened out so we can go on our 3 mile walks again - the treadmill just ain't cutting it!!

Looks like we're definitely going to have to have the big hard maple in the front yard taken down this year; the whole north side of it is dead. It will make me sad to see it come down as it's one of two my parents planted when they bought this farm 60 some years go; we lost the other one almost 6 years ago. It also provides the main shade for the house on the south - I've been toying with the idea of solar panels to go on the south facing roof or planting two trees to replace the one...

Well dang - my coffee cup somehow turned up empty! Reckon I'd better go fill it up, then see if I can pry Hubby out of his recliner and out to work in the yard!

Take care all; stay safe out there this week!

Well water stopped flowing. I spent evening topping off my tanks, bowls, water bladders, pitchers, and even cooking pots. I even have two rubber maid garbage cans I topped off, which have never been used for anything but holding water. I keep them covered with a blanket to not attract attention. We can go a substantial amount of time if we ration. Luckily I washed all our clothes, beddings and such.

We're getting close to 12 hrs days and the dreaded spring forward time change. The days will skew and be light till 9 , then 10 pm, 11, 12 and later. It interferes with sleeping and biological clocks. It really interferes with children sleeping. It is such a big deal I cover my daughter's Windows to keep it dark so she sleeps.

Argghh....spring

Makes a guy prefer winter

Hope your well issues get fixed soonest, Ivan!

Time changes throw me all of out whack :strs: At least it's not on my work weekend this year, though I'll now have the sun in my eyes for a few weeks again until it rises early enough that it's high enough to block with the visor as I drive to work in the mornings. That reminds me, I need to look for my sunglasses...

Another hour in the pool today; I may go up early enough to try out the elliptical machines tomorrow. Other than when I come on and go off shift, I usually take the stairs at work if I need to go to a different floor. It's 6 flights of steps from the parking lot level to the floor where I work; I get a little out of breath on the last one, so it might not hurt me to spend a few minutes of my work out time on the elliptical.

Not much in the sale ads so far this week though I may pick up a dozen or so eacg if small cans of salmon/foil packets of salmon priced at 4/$5. Chili beans and pasta sauce are on sale as well, so I'll check inventory and stock as needed.

Got more jars ran through the dishwasher and boxed up for storage - looks like I got some of the pricey ($8/4), fancy octagonal pint Ball jars in this lot; I'll enjoy using them for jam, or possibly peaches if there are enough of them. I'm O/C enough to want all of the same item in the same style of jar

I do like the new amber jars; just not for those prices! For me, it's work and school, school and work. DH did get me about 40 chicks that are now hanging out in the mudroom.

Wells are funny I guess; they periodically stop, at least around here. Not sure why, but it occurs in the spring. Fresh water is fragile thing in the Arctic.

We're all sick, coughing, lost voices, but no fever. We doubled up on vitamin c.

I switched the clock forward Friday morning. Try an see if that eases the change. I got some things out in the mail, things related to my fathers death. Taxes are done; I need to mail them off.

We had nice anversery dinner. We were given a large fillet of king salmon and cooked portion of it with crab cakes, with salad.

We had another lock down. Troopers shoot out with armed bad guy. It has become so common here I didn't even load my gun. I went home to watch over family.
