I agree! DH and I recently cleaned out our closets and dressers, loaded it in the back of our truck and donated to the salvation army. While we were there, there was a beautiful blonde wood mid century modern dresser (with a hidden drawer!) sitting out front by itsself. DH asked the manager about it and she said $20 just to get rid of it. We went to pay for it and they were having a 50% off Saturday sale. We got it for $10!I absolutely hate having a yard sale, I'd much rather give stuff away.
Fortunately my walmart restocked. I love having them on hand and i got some of the expensive Dave's buns and they are delish. And I've gottenI woke up this morning with a severe migraine. Nothing I've taken has helped so far. It's a rainy and dreary day, too. We had storms blow through overnight.
Judy, you mentioned those frozen beef patties. They've been really low on those at our Walmart, but I always keep a few boxes in the freezer for quick meals (6 patties per box). That's what I plan to use tonight for cheeseburgers. I only buy the plain ones, unless they are out of them. The alternative is the seasoned ones. We haven't tried the Vidalia onion or the bacon/cheese ones.
I buy 4 boxes of the patties once a month when I do my monthly shopping run. They are a regular on my shopping list for the month. I not only use them for hamburgers but hamburger steaks with gravy, too. We don't care too much for frozen fries, but I do buy them occasionally to have on hand in the freezer. I like making home fries or roasted potato chunks in the oven. I cut up the potatoes into a bowl, add olive oil, stir them up, and pour out onto a cookie sheet. Sprinkle with a small amount of salt, a shaking of black pepper, and a lot of garlic powder. Bake till lightly browned or fork tender. Yum!Fortunately my walmart restocked. Grown In Idaho Super Crispy Shoestring Fries, 28 oz (Frozen)
They are delish and taste like mcdonalds. Of course they have nefarious ingredients, but I have to find something that DH likes and he likes these, I cook them in the oven. I don't fix them even weekly though.
I get a box of six of those hamburger patties everytime I shop. Looks like I have several boxes in the freezer. It would be nice to have a freeze dryer for things like these, but way to far out of my price range.
On another topic, I was cleaning (I know, wow) in the bathroom. I had some bottles of flush water against the out side wall and moved them to clean up the floor and to my horror I could just about see daylight along the edge. I need to get some Great Stuff to fill in the crack. We live in a very old mobile home and things like this happen from time to time.
I bought some two gallon water bottles that stack. Maybe I should fill them while I have them out. But I don't want to store that weight where they were.
It looks like some of my multiplying onions are going to seed.
Our home is a leaky mid 80's mobile home. DH had a mobile home set up and repair business for several years so he has patched things up. I think he finally got the leak stopped over the commode. Ten years ago he paid cash for it for 12,000 including delivery and set up. He bought it in a big town and they had to bring it over 70 miles. So the price was reasonable although he said he back in the day in Illinois he could have gotten it for free. He has added on a lot, front, back and side. Plus he built a screened in porch off one side, but you have to go outside to get in there. At first we used it a lot but since he built a very nice covered front porch we really don't use it any more. However if we had to live without electricity I'd most likely be sleeping out there.I buy 4 boxes of the patties once a month when I do my monthly shopping run. Our house isn't on a concrete slab, so I worry about all the weight of our water and food in the pantry room. We have an old house, too. So far, we haven't noticed any floor sagging.
A note about the bridge collapse today... somewhere on the web....I saw that Domino sugar (cane)..comes into that port.. don't know if other brands of cane sugar come in there also...not sure if we still even grow cane any more
From what I understand... the port will closed on quite a while the bridge even longer....
I buy Imperial cane sugar in the 10 # bag from time to time, we have a good supply. Its now cheaper than the 10# bag of walmarts beet sugar (beets are gmo, bad for your gut). Our regular sugar is what DH puts in his coffee and he doesn't drink it every day, particularly when the weather is warm. I drink it every day, although I've stopped drinking it in the evening.I saw that, too. I'm very well stocked up on sugar. I don't use it very much anyway. I wonder what else might get shorted by the collapse of the bridge.

My water is stored in the she shed, which is very well built. I do keep a couple of cases of bottled water in the house for convience.
Be sure your sugar is cane sugar you gut will be glad. It's 50 degrees, cloudy, with dry sidewalks, important for my walks!
Thanks for the reminder about sugar. I don't use it daily, but I should get another pound for strawberry season. I'm planning on making around 30 pints of freezer jam, about half of which will be for birthday and graduation presents. I may also bake several strawberry pies, also for gifts, and if you've priced decent pies lately, you'll see why I'm breaking out the pie pans: 3 pies could easily set me back $60. Yikes!
Lots of network problems going on at work. Methinks the hackers are at it, again.
Added: I use only cane sugar! I'm a snob about my jellies and pies.
