Just ordered a couple dozen pouches of food from campmor.com -- need to try this stuff out on the family before ordering very much (will also have to save up the $$ to make a bigger order). Also ordered from internet grocer and beprepared.com . . . will see how this all works out.

Was reading another thread and liked the idea someone posted about having preps for daily use, long-term storage (dehydrated), and then TEOTWAWKI (which i'd say is "bug-out" or at least equal to camping out in the backyard w/not much else). That's how i'm going to sort out our preps - right now, everything's all jumbled together in the big pantry in the laundry room and wherever i can stash them throughout the house.

You do NOT want to get into building your own. ;)

It's a V E R Y expensive hobby.

Especially when you start designing your own modifications on CAD and get machine shop quotes.

YIKES !

I probaby have more invested in flashlights than my car.
:lkick:

The last thing I need is another expensive hobby...

:bwl:

( then again.... ;) )

Heart of Dixie
I spend the past couple of weeks getting one section of the garden turned under and some rows laid. There are sweet onions, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce and bell peppers. I'm holding off another couple of days on the tomatoes. I'm also starting to put some real thought into a hidden garden far behind the house.

Ended up with 1,070 lbs of beef off the two longhorn steer that my buddy and I took to get processed.

I picked up some trapping supplies to make snares and extra tanning powder. Upgraded my mini mag to nite-ize with push button. Got an order of 4x10#moos milk.

I actually got tired of ordering online and spending money (if that were possible.) I got my Katadyn pocket water filter this week, but still waiting from some solar gadgets I ordered from sundancesolar.com including a solar oven. I've been prepping food, hygiene, and first aid for years, but just recently started with the "big stuff." I got my RadioShack PRO2096 Digital Trunking Scanner, but I'm completely stumped. Instructions are not written by a technical writer for the casual user.

Dude, I got land envy. Being a city slicker, I don't have plots of arable land anywhere near that big and what is available is in plain sight. I will have to plant "invisible" produce (underground) for it to be unseen, certainly not in any rows! As soon as I can I'll be trying potatoes, onions, turnips, carrots, radishes, garlic for the unseen produce and pumpkin and peas for the visible stuff.

I also have freezer envy. :D
