Moldy, wishing you the best in your studies! Good score on the firewood!
Busy week so far - though Hubby and I did take a little time for ourselves on Monday since he was off work. I went to aqua aerobics with the girls, then headed up to the orchard afterwards for another bushel of peaches while he went down to his range and practiced with a new handgun he got for IDPA. I spent the rest of the morning and into the early afternoon working up two canner loads of peaches plus 2 batches of peach jam - I used those $5 off $25 coupons I got from Dollar General a week ago Saturday to stock up on another 28 boxes of lids this past Saturday - they are disappearing into the pantry pretty fast! Hubby wanted to go pick up some reloading supplies in the afternoon, so I cleaned up and rode along with him. We hit Wal-Mart for some things for his work lunches this next month - $60; not as bad as it could have been, I guess. A quick stop at the local ice cream joint afterwards, and we were headed home. I spent part of the evening down in the storeroom looking for some of my old nursing school books - I've spent too many years on the psych ward and REALLY need to brush up on cardiac before I take the ACLS test next month.
Tuesday, I had aqua aerobics again; then had to go to work to competency testing - 45 minute drive each way for 35 minutes at testing; oh well - I passed! I'd thrown a cooler in the van, so hit Aldi on the way home and stocked up on some things for the mid term pantry as well as the current use stuff. Hit WM again for peach colored thread (couldn't believe I didn't have any!) and reasonably priced pectin - found Sure-Jell low sugar pectin 2 packs for $4.88, cheapest I've found so I picked up 3. They have a use by date in 2020 so will stop back by there and stock up on a dozen or so later this week. Got home, got everything unloaded, then made three more batches of peach jam before retiring to the couch to read for a bit.
Today, I was up and out in the garden shortly after daybreak, getting it weeded before it gets back up into the 90's today; and then watering everything. Got that finished and came up to the house and watered all my flowerbeds as well. I was pulling water from the outside rain water tank (stock tank) and brought up a bucket of good sized tadpoles, so I poured them back in to the tank and went to the other end to dip out water - only had to scoop a few out of the bucket with my hand and put them back in the tank
Then I picked tomatoes and cukes; then checked the green and yellow beans - they are finally starting to set on, so I got enough for supper at least. The sweet corn will be ready to work up this weekend; I'm hoping that the rest of the peaches ripen enough that I can get them canned on Saturday, so we'll have Sunday to take care of the corn. I need to take the grandkids shopping for school supplies on Monday, so I'm hoping we're able to get it all done on Sunday.
This afternoon, I'm going to drag in a couple more coolers so I can clean and defrost the small upright freezer in the basement - we'll need a place to put the corn! I'm thinking I have some smoked sausage in that freezer I should probably be using it; it'll go good with the green beans tonight; then I can pull a cabbage, and dig some carrots and potatoes out of the garden to go with the rest of the package this weekend.
Reckon I'd better go find some lunch, then get back to work...
Take care, folks - stay safe!! The heat seems to be getting to folks around here; lots of angry and crazy out there!!
