Good Morning, All! Very, very early morning at 12:08 am as I am typing, but at least this way I know I will get the thread started today
It has been a busy couple of days. Friday was a work day, and a stressful one. I got off late, and as I was driving home and could see Rural King's sign, I was thinking "I ought to stop in there and pick up one of those ventless propane heaters in case the winter is as bad as the almanac says it's going to be...." But the parking lot was busy and I was tired after a 13+ hour day, so drove on home.....to find Hubby stomping around in a fit The exhaust fan on the furnace had been making noise for a couple of days; he'd ordered a new one, but of course, the old one died the day after he ordered the new one. On a Friday evening, sigh. He was busy dragging a propane radiant heater into the house - 'to keep the you and the pipes from freezing' when I stopped him and gently explained that it wasn't going to get cold enough this weekend for anything outdoors to freeze, let alone pipes in an insulated basement; and that I had a small electric heater we could use to warm up the bathroom for showering, and plenty of feather beds/feather blankets/sleeping bags, etc... to pile on to keep warm if it got cold in the house. Now mind you, I sleep with a sheet and a light thermal blanket with the thermostat set on 62*F, so I didn't think I was likely to freeze to death overnight, even if it did get down to freezing outside. Got him calmed down and out the door to work, threw a feather throw on my bed, then folded back the covers long enough to warm the sheets with my blow dryer and crawled in - slept like the dead. Apparently I need to turn the furnace down another 10 degrees or so once the blower motor is fixed...
Once I crawled out of bed and had some coffee in me, I made a baked Dutch Apple pancake for breakfast - so the oven being on for a half hour had warmed the kitchen nicely by the time Hubby got home from work. I was in and out of the house doing some chores - and admiring the 10 pt buck shot by the gentleman I'd pulled out of the field across the road last week - 61 years old, his first deer, and it was a NICE 10 pointer! Almost as nice as the one his 11 year old granddaughter got last year, she told me
The neighbor lady called to see if I wanted to join her and her BIL for lunch, so I got cleaned up and was ready to head out when she pulled in my drive. We had a nice lunch, then dropped her BIL off and hit a few used furniture and thrift stores - only things I bought were 4 Christmas carol piano music books from the 1950's/60's - for 50 cents each; daughter is going to display them on her piano next week during the holiday house walk We popped into a recently opened Dollar General on the way home - I was very impressed by it's stock of canned meats!
Made it home to find that Hubby had already eaten supper, and had gone ahead and hauled that heater into the house, so I made a pot of tea and read for about 30 minutes until I got drowsy. I pulled the portable carbon monoxide monitor out and checked upstairs and down but the level was okay, so I headed upstairs to take a nap after reminding Hubby to keep an eye on it. Woke up 3+ hours later (which probably explains why I'm still up after midnight!) and am waiting for a cup of chamomile tea to cool enough to drink it; hopefully it will make me drowsy enough to sleep a few more hours.
Today is another work day - and, as two of my co-workers have already reminded me, that means it's donut day, so I will have to be up and out the door at least 15 minutes early in order to have time to stop. I've got my coffee pot prepped and ready to go, scrubs checked and ready to pull on, work bag packed, and most of my lunch in my lunch bag so it shouldn't take much time for me to head out the door.
I'm hoping that work isn't too hectic so that I have energy enough to stop at Rural King on the way home from work this evening to pick up one of those heaters...might as well give Hubby something else to do on his days off lol!! I'll have to remember to leave him a note to measure the diameter of the propane line and the distance where we plan to install it and text me the info in order to make sure I pick up enough line though!
Starting to yawn my fool head off; guess I'd better get back to bed before it passes! Take care all; stay safe out there!!
