Whew - I got busy toward the end of the week - hanging out with the neighbor, dinner with the work peeps, flipping shifts to work 11am-11pm the last two days of the week...
Got up mid morning on Saturday since I didn't get home from work until nearly 1am (late admission) and fiddled around a bit before heading to town to pick up the grands. I took a detour on the way and picked up some 1 oz silver rounds that a fellow had posted on a local trading site; we were both pretty happy with the deal. Then I took granddaughter to WM to get some hair stuff (it must have a LOT of alcohol in it because I can't come up with anything besides evaporation causing her to need more every other week
One grandson tagged along to help pick out a birthday present for a party both boys were invited to in the evening. The birthday girl loves to draw, so I donated a ream of my 1 cent (after rebate) Staples computer paper to the gift bag; the kids then picked out some nice markers, colored pencils, and a giant box of crayons (fondly remembering the days when a box of 64 crayons was something to wish for ) Then it was back to daughter's to snag the other boy, and off to the farm. We had a fairly heavy snack around 3 pm as I didn't want to take the boys to a tumbling gym with full tummies; then read for a while before heading in to town.
I wasn't needed to help at the party, so snuck out with my Dollar General $5 off $25 coupon to pick up couch throws for two of the grandkids - found one each navy and purple patterned throws; regular price $18 each but on sale for $5 off; with my $5 off $25 coupon, that took the price down to around $11 each which suited me fine. I really liked finding the purple one as I'd gotten a pair of knitted slipper socks in the same color in the grab bag gift exchange at work that have raccoons on them - granddaughter will really like the two together
On my way out the door with the blankets, I noted a 50%-75% off school supply display which included a fairly thick, clear, plexiglass clipboard - something clicked in my brain The plexiglass had broken in one of my birdfeeders a week or so ago, and I was too cheap to spend $29 on a new birdfeeder at Rural King the other day, and couldn't find a small enough/reasonably priced enough piece of plexiglass at at the hardware store to make a replacement window for the feeder. For 38 cents plus tax, the clipboard came home with me; and it didn't take too much talking (mentioning the price of a new birdfeeder, etc...) to get Hubby to cut it to size and install it in place of the broken piece.
We got quite a bit of work done outside today as it was a very nice day - although the boys did somehow manage to find 6 blooming dandelions to pick for me, which led to me taking a Zyrtec about an hour later It finally kicked in about an hour ago, thank goodness!
I'll be splitting a work shift tomorrow to help cover for a co-worker who is having a medical procedure; won't have to go in until 1pm, so I'll still be able to go to aqua aerobics and breakfast with the ladies - and maybe even get a few things done at home before I head in. Work Tuesday & Wednesday, then have Thursday off so will go to aqua aerobics with the girls; then have Friday off as well so will take best friend out to the Mexican restaurant for lunch to celebrate her birthday before going to watch our team play basketball game Friday evening; taking granddaughter home afterwards. I must have been terribly bored before I was blessed with grandkids
Off to take these two varmints home so daughter can feed 'em some supper before they con me into McDonalds or something!
Take care all; have a wonderful week!
