Good Morning, All! Hoping today's post finds everyone safe and well.
A damaging tornado came through about 50 miles west of us yesterday afternoon; no loss of life, Thank God; but significant damage to over 100 homes. We will be taking supplies in to a local church this afternoon to donate. Please offer up prayers if you will, for the families who have been affected.
Daughter will drop off the grandsons later this morning; they will go to us to drop off the items; and then we will go back in to town this evening for the 'Bethlehem Walk' where they have set up various areas plus a meal - complete with tax collectors to accept your donation. The church is also a collection point for the Blessings in a Backpack program, so we will drop off our donations for that at the same time.
Today is supposed to be not too cold and not raining, so we are going to clean out the vehicles, check the emergency bags and restock them, and get the winter gear loaded in. I love my minivan because it is so versatile - can put up half the back seat so one brother isn't seated next to or behind the other one, etc... - I bet the Mama's reading this know exactly what I'm talking about But that means I have to sometimes shuffle the gear around when seats go up or down, so I have to make sure what I'll likely need the most is easy to get to, that everything is contained so nothing goes flying if I would happen to get in an accident, and that most of it is in backpacks so we could take what we need with us if we have to leave the vehicle behind.
Our group buy coordinator is on a roll lately - two buys in November, and I hadn't even picked up my last order when he caught up with me at work with yet another deal; I checked the money I had in my pocket and told him my limit and to do what he thought best. He is such a blessing to the group - scouts out deals, takes orders, makes the buy and sets up pick up/deliveries. Many of us would not be in nearly as good of shape if he didn't take charge. Hope he doesn't find too many deals next month though - that's when my garden seed orders need to go in
I haven't laid eyes on the sale ads as yet, but with one more paycheck between now and Christmas I am liable to be more focused on my kids and local charities than I am on adding to the pantry. Unless there is a really fabulous sale on chicken, that is...
Guess I'd better get up and start getting some work done - take care all; stay safe out there!
