Another work weekend done; whew!!

Moldy, hope you are getting enough rest; and have time enough to do your homework for school! Keeping you in my thoughts...

Didn't get any corn put up on Friday because I was dumb enough to answer my phone even though I recognized the phone number.... Ended up hurrying home from WM to catch a couple hour nap before going in to work for a 12 hour night shift; did fine up until about 0430, when I had to take a break and go outside to walk around the building twice, then run up and down a couple flights of stairs to get the blood moving again  Stopped at WM on the way home to pick up the school supplies I'd been looking at when my phone rang the day before, then hit Dollar General to stock up on gallon and quart freezer size Hefty brand zipper bags. They were on sale for $2/box, there was a buy 3 - get $3 back instantly deal, and I had 6 - $1 off 3 coupons plus the $5 off $25 purchase coupon from my receipt:

18 - assorted boxes @ $2 each = $36

Used:
1 - $5 off $25 coupon
6 - $1 off 3 coupons = $6
6 - buy 3; get $3 = $18
Total: $29

Paid $7 plus tax - and got another $5 off $25 purchase coupon on my receipt.

Home then, filled the bird feeders, fed the cat, and fell in bed. I'd set my alarm for 1:30pm but didn't crawl out of bed until Hubby got home from IDPA at 3pm - those night shifts didn't use to kick my fanny quite so bad  Hubby had pity on me and fixed supper - he even went out to the garden to pick the fixin's!

Back to work day shift today where I got to play with carb counting/insulin. Anyone given 80 units of Novalog before? I hadn't - and I didn't. 135 carbs plus an ac bs of 331 = 13 s/s + 67 u at 1:2. I gave the s/s and paged the doc, who backed me up... I've done carb counting at 1:10; co-worker had done 1:5 on peds, but 80 units??? I was checking the Pyxis to make sure we had Glucagon on unit, and searching for a 16g.... I can't even imagine eating 135 carbs at one meal...

Finally was able to head home, had about 15 miles to go and came up on a car going 10 mph below the speed limit and weaving over the lines on both sides of the road. Decided 12.8 hours at the hospital was enough fun for one day, and that I wasn't in the mood to scrape anyone off the road, so called the county Sheriff's dept and remained behind the vehicle until they came up behind me, then pulled off on a side road to let them do their thing. I have the phone number for the Sheriff's departments of the 3 counties I regularly drive through, and the 3 City PDs in the contacts in my phone, so was able to use the call function on the van to safely make the call.

Plans for tomorrow include heading up to the pool to exercise, then back home to put up corn - doing it up in pints this year; and hopefully clean up that area of the garden. I'll likely need to pick green/wax beans, tomatoes, green peppers and elderberries again too; plus I found some blackberries in the freezer from last year that I think I'm going to make into jam. That ought to be quite enough for one day :) Tuesday will be the pool again, then school shopping with older grandson; Wednesday I hope to finish up the studying I need to do for the online portion of my ACLS test, and back to work Thursday and Friday - the weeks just go too fast anymore!!

Now if I can just settle down enough to get some sleep... Take care all; stay safe out there!

I love school, and I'm learning a lot. Even hiked 4 miles last week, and it didn't kill me! School m-t-w (out in the field, even if it rains, all week). I will miss tomorrow afternoon, because I have to go give a deposition (I"ll let you imagine, Renee. It ain't gonna be pleasant!) I would greatly appreciate prayers/good thoughts tomorrow. Garden is going to heck, but there's only so many hours in the day (and so far, I"m staying caught up on homework!)

The thread I started about hand bags and EDC has me reevaluating my purse and what I carry in it. Although everything I have in my everyday carry I've never had to use, but will continue to carry in my bag. New bag though, crossbody with a few pockets and a pocket for either a water bottle or an umbrella. I keep going over what to carry and I haven't weighed my bag yet, nice weight distribution of it though. I may be obsessing.

Judy

PS prayers for you Moldy

Went to the mountains for class and got to see how my little car did on some steep grade mud roads (just fine, but I was praying all the way); hit the discount grocery on the way back home. It's usually closed by the time I pass it with all the town traffic, so I stocked up. A big package of pepperoni (will do for pizzas and pasta, and calzones later this season), blueberries, raspberries, bread and a few other goodies. Deposition went OK, and set my mind a little more at ease. Now I"m back home. Will load up the dehydrator, straighten up a few things, then start on homework.

Picked a bushel of pears from our tree yesterday, there's still some at the very top but we have to go get a taller ladder from the farm. I just did a peck of peaches this year, we'll be eating pears in various ways I imagine. :) The sale papers come out on Wednesday, I'm anxious to see what's on sale. I need several things and my pantry is really bare right now!

Glad the deposition went well moldy, hope everyone's week is a good one!

Glad to hear that everything went okay with the deposition, Moldy!

Hubby and I got the corn put in the freezer Monday, and I got the blackberry jam made. Got peppers, tomatoes, and green beans picked - the birds got to a lot of the elderberries while I was working/sleeping, but I got enough to run one batch through the steam juicer. I have several jars of elderberry juice canned in the pantry and Hubby has several bottles of elderberry wine made, so we are okay with the birds getting the majority of them - especially since it was the birds who planted our elderberry patch in the first place!

Yesterday, I took the two older grandkids out to lunch and then to get their school supplies/gym clothes - I couldn't believe what daughter told me that it cost to register 3 kids for school!! Glad I can help out with supplies - especially when I look at all the other school related stuff there is to pay for - cheer uniforms, gym clothes, club dues, homecoming dress, etc... Made grandson figure out the tip for the waitress after lunch, and taught granddaughter some Grandma Math when I took her shopping for a 'prize' for running her first 5K race last week and completing it in under the time she'd bet me she could. And you gotta love a kid who looks for bargains even when they're using Grandma's purse - he was trying to figure out how much an item was that was 30% off. I told her round up to the nearest dollar, then take that number times 7. She was initially confused, so I told her to go ahead figure it out using the calculator on her phone - and darned if I wasn't right! I told her it was easier to subtract the 30% off from 100%, then multiply the resulting 70% by the price of the item than it was to try to figure out what 30% of the cost of the item was and subtract that from the original price. Always more than one way to skin a cat!

We got back home and made some pizza for supper; then I ran the kids home a bit after that. Made it home without the little grandson, but will probably have to go pick him up this morning after I finish my Wellness labs at work. That will likely put a little choke on some of my housecleaning plans for today - oh darn :) Back to work tomorrow, but then boss has some plan he's working on to try to cover a shift - not sure what my next day to work after tomorrow will be; or if it will be a day shift or a night one! Hope he gets it figured out soon...

Take care all; have a safe rest of the week!

Busy rest of the week here - supervisor's diabolical plan ended up having me off work on Thursday and picking up Saturday night shift. Of course, the grandkids sniffed this info out immediately so were at the farm with me from Wednesday morning to Thursday afternoon. I received some more coupons in the mail and snagged free 8 ct Gatorade and 12 ct string cheese, plus more free after cash back spaghetti sauce, pudding cups and cereal for the pantry; and $1 off a rotisserie chicken, which will be eaten plain for lunch today and part of it turned into chicken alfredo for supper at work tonight. I did manage some work in the garden, and canned one canner load of green/wax beans, but cooked a huge batch in the pressure cooker as the grands couldn't seem to get enough of them, and sent the rest home to daughter to toss in one of her crock pots.

The first two hours of work yesterday were good, but then everything went to heck in a handbasket; said chaos then followed by a call in... I got out of the nurses' station only an hour late, but was an hour and a half finishing my charting. 3 weeks/10 working days and I am free on vacation for 22 days ... Well, semi-free as I may have to switch one day with someone in order to be take co-worker Buddy to same day surgery, then stay with him afterwards until he is clear; and I'll also be staying with the grandkids for 9-10 of those days while daughter and SIL take a trip, but that will be fun - I have nephews in JFL so will go to their games, plus the football games that grandaughter will be cheering at as well. All three grands will be in school all day, so I will have the week days free - aqua aerobics, coffee shop, foo-foo bakery, used book store, thrift shop, work clearing out my gardens and haul composted manure and mulch, maybe sneakily decorate daughter's porch for fall :)

So far today, all I've managed to do is chat with Hubby before he left for work, do dishes, start a load of laundry, fill the hummingbird feeders, and watch the chipmunk stuff his cheeks with peanuts and sniff doubtfully at the chunks of granola I added in. Pretty soon, I'm going to organize my coupon file (15 minute chore), wash the sheets and blankets that were used in making a fort by the grandkids (clotheslines are wonderful for making tents :) ) and hang them on the line to dry; then do some more studying for ACLS before I plop down for a nap around 1pm. Hoping to finish up the ACLS stuff next week. THEN I get to start acquiring CEUs and studying for Psych Certification :bhd: Wound Care is sounding better and better.... :D

Off to re-fill the coffee cup and read a bit more - take care all; have a fun and safe weekend out there!
