Getting this started for the week - had a long post typed out but hit something wrong on the computer and lost it all and don't have patience enough to re-type it right now  Hope everyone has a great weekend; and wishing you all a safe and happy week to come...

Not much going on this week; did manage to pick up 8 pkg of Gain detergent pods for daughter for $16 & change, but otherwise it seems I've just been trying to keep up with the boys until daughter gets home - flight from Oz was late but so was her connecting flight in Dallas; she called as she was boarding so should be home in a few hours - guess I'd better get those clean sheets put on the bed I've been sleeping in while the boys are here so she can crash once she gets here.

I did clean out the closet in one of the store rooms. I put the medical 'equipment' type stuff like crutches, walkers, braces, etc... in the far end; storage tubs of medical stuff like dressings, etc... up on a portion of the shelf above the hanging rack, then filled the rest of that area with the cases/boxes some of our firearms/gear came in. I sorted the bought-on-clearance kid coats into sizes - I cut a small hole in the center bottom of clear trash bags, then poked the hook portions of the hangers through them; tagging each bag with the size so it will be easy to just pull out whichever size the kids are in without sorting through all of them. I had a storage cube type thing with 5 openings that I put horizontally into the bottom of the closet; was able to stuff all the bought-on-clearance snow boots plus hiking boots I've picked up here and there in it; then I sorted out a bunch of heels that I haven't worn in the past few years and put them in a box to donate, so now have two hanging shoe bags to store the shoes I've picked up for the boys when I found them on clearance or at garage sales. I still have plenty of room on the clothes rod - and a TON of hangers from clearing out daughter's abandoned clothes (anyone need a pair of American Eagle or Aeropostle size 0 flared jeans from the late 90's? ) Most of her stuff went in a box for Goodwill, but some things were good enough to donate to the local thrift store - oh, and I did have her permission to get rid of all of it! I may use that area to store the clothing that I have picked up for the boys that is currently upstairs in storage tubs.

I did 6 loads of laundry to freshen up the stuff I was planning to donate; and while that was going on, I also moved a LOT of empty canning jars around - and got them staged for use or to move to a different area (like my cousin's garage  ) Then I started in on my closet.... So far, between daughter's stuff and my own, I have two giant boxes for Goodwill, two smaller boxes to take to the thrift store, one bag of sweatshirts with cutesy designs on them to take to the nursing home, and two large Aldi bags to take to the clothing pantry at work - we have certain criteria on the clothing for the pantry: no strings, crew neck or button up shirts only, and we are very careful of the designs on t-shirts.

Well, cancel that connecting flight; turned around after 10 minutes in the air with a possible fire in the tail; they MIGHT be able to fly them out around 2030. Or 2200. Or tomorrow. And then there is the 2.5 hour drive home from that airport.... But at least they are safe on the ground right now! And I still have one more day of vacation so no problem with trying to find a sitter for the boys tomorrow.

Off to do a little more work in the closets...

Take care all; hope you all have a great evening!

We've been busy.

Getting closer to finishing with dad's final affairs. Got rid of more stuff.

Painted dad's house and fixed a bunch of things. Saved at least 4000 dollars painting it our selves. We found qualified handyman to fix a bunch of things.

Planted garden: cabbage, potatoes, carrots, squash, tomato, onions, etc. Crops are doing good. I store them in cold room to subsidize my cost of living, but my primary reason is teaching my kids to be resourceful.

Wood pile is in good shape. High water floated many dead trees down the river. I picked up 27 logs. My stock pile of firewood has continued to dry for an additional year, which only improve the burning quality. Money in bank there.

I noticed CD rates rose so I moved money around.

Monday I need to make phone calls and pay bills .

Going to be busy hunting , busy time of year

I am curious to note the productivity of the garden.

I am hoping for 200 lbs of potatoes, 50 lbs of onions.

I planted 50 cabbage and 10 squash plants.

I built a temporary green house around 20 tomatoes.
