Good Morning, All! Hope everyone is having a great week so far (okay, okay, I'm only 9 and some hours into the new week, but so far it's been great here  )

We had so much fun outside yesterday - riding bikes, nature walks, digging holes (little grandson loves his new shovel - such an easy child to please lol!) , filling bird feeders, helping Papaw take down posts/trellises so the gardens can be tilled as soon as it dries up, showing the boys the locations of the old wells (all covered but kids are curious) and explaining the dangers, leaving out sparkly fake jewels for our buddies the crows (early warning system of strangers - both human and animal; along with the jays), teaching the names of the flowers in the yard, etc.... We were all drooping and ready for some quiet time when we finally came inside close to supper time. The outside time is good for the boys - youngest grandson was praised at school for having so much 'nature knowledge' and was very excited by the praise!

While Papaw kept an eye on one boy in a shower and the other in a tub (I'm not sure if they got my immunity to poison ivy or not so baths were a requirement), I ran into town to pick up the pizza the boys were clamoring for for supper. I left home early to pick it up so that I could take my $5 off $25 coupon to Dollar General and do a bit of shopping. First things to hit the cart were 3 - 12 pks (3 for $10) of soda for the family Easter potluck (orange and rootbeer so far; will pick up the other types as sales show up). I picked up one bag of potting soil as I almost immediately ran out yesterday - in an emergency situation I would have turned one of the older compost piles to gain potting soil. I snagged one of their Easter candy deals - a bag each of peanut and regular M&M's - I had a $1 off 2 coupon, and DG was running a deal that if you bought 2, you got a free bag of Mars minis, so the candy bowls for the tables for the family dinner are covered, plus some sweets for the boy's baskets as well. A couple of OTC meds and hygiene items to rotate into pantry stock completed the required $25 purchase. And I received another $5 off $25 for next week - looks like Pepsi/Mt Dew will be on sale for the 3/$10 price then... Now if I can just find a sale on Coca-Cola products in the next week or two...

My houseplants didn't get carried down stairs and outside - I'll finish that, as well as potting up aloe babies and maybe taking some cuttings today. I may have to pick up more potting soil when I take the boys home this afternoon so that I can finish up later in the week - I'm off work Wed/Thu/Fri but rain is predicted on Thursday so it will be an inside work day.

It's possible, but doubtful that we will get another hard freeze here, Southern Breeze - though we have had snow as late as tax day. Some of the plants will be on a shelf set against the house wall, and some on the table. I do have a freeze alarm I can set, and have old sheets/blankets I can drape over the shelf and tables, plus a little milkhouse heater I can set under the table to provide a bit more warmth - it can be set to only come on if the temp drops below a certain point.

Well, I have a giant pile of laundry I need to get started on in the utility room, 2 bags of boy clothes that a co-worker brought in for me ditto, plus the boys and I are planning to work on cleaning their room and finding outgrown toys to donate (they each get to pick out a couple to pass down to their children) - but if the forecast rain doesn't start in soon, we will likely be outside instead; can't waste nice spring weather

Take care all; wishing you all a wonderful week!

If I wait, until I go back into town on the 17th, I think all chances of having a late freeze will be over. I'll move all my house plants outside, and buy my hanging baskets of ferns then. I'm not really in a hurry this year.

Our lawn already needs mowing. DH wanted to change blades on the lawn mower last evening, and broke something on it. Now, we have to wait, until it can go in the shop to be fixed, before we can mow. Dang, the grass may wind up being taller than our house by that time. We're getting so much rain, it's like fertilizer falling from the sky!

I got busy, yesterday, cleaning out my closet, switching from winter to summer clothes. I bagged up a large garbage bag of clothes to take to the Salvation Army when I go into town. I've lost a lot of weight, since last summer, and a lot of my clothes don't fit, anymore. I'll do the same with DH's closet next. He's gained some weight, and he's beginning to have a stack of pants that are too small. Guess I'll be donating them as well.

It's raining again, today. Guess I'll be spending time here, or maybe, reading a bit in some new books I bought the other day. Mostly historical romance novels, LOL. But, hey, I like them. :D

North to the Future
I returned last week from a month-long visit to my son and his fam in the Tampa area. Made my short Alaska summer longer by that much (though we're still 5 weeks from green-up). Was pleasantly surprised at my return to find all the snow in Wasilla - excluding the mountains - completely gone already (very early), so I'm just itching to turn over my garden space. It's a new place for me so I will have to start from scratch, but there is one good-sized raised bed I want to till this week as even the ground has thawed in that area. My flower and veggie starts inside are all doing well, so I should have it timed just about right for outside planting.

Working on plans to put a roof over the two conexs we have here, but meanwhile I will be going thru mine to clean up and reorganize after having it moved here last fall. Time to make a shopping list too. Renee, I sure wish we had a dollar store here - sounds like you get some good deals. Costco and the thrift stores are about the best I can do; it's good that I enjoy sewing quilts and clothing (my grand-daughters LOVE new things from Nana and they don't want to wear anything else for while)!

Sitting here at the computer in front of my huge window, I just saw a beautiful bald eagle fly past. Gorgeous against our incredibly blue sky! But I do hope we get rain soon; with the low snow pack this past winter, we could have a bad fire season. Rain would be just fine with me - there is a lot of dust in the air from both the dirt roads and the glacial dust that blows here in the Valley. It makes for good gardens, but not nice for breathing.

Have a lovely week!

The daffodils are blooming and the peepers are out at dusk peeping. Finished moving and stacking the firewood back in the main pile away from the house and just heard a report it's supposed to get below freezing tonight. Sigh....
