I notice in the story that the orders for NG deployment seem to be coming directly from the Capitol Police, which reports directly to Congress, which most likely means Pelosi, et al, or some committee which has been given the delegated responsibility. And incidents like this seem to be generated out of "break times" and "off-duty" times. Weird. No wonder it's such a Charlie Foxtrot because it's controlled by politicians.

Still, one would think the DoD has a certain responsibility for its troops' deployment, in which one of the main factors is logistics. Is this whole thing being run by beancounters or something? Where are the semi-trailer loads of porta-potties and mess tents of coffee and sandwiches, testing facilities and stuff like that?

Good grief. Send these people home or get them squared away. I have a hunch that a bunch of congressional-staff weenies are the ones making decisions on this and unit commanders are being muzzled.

I am afraid the lesson learned is that they need to be more PC and get promoted and do favors or they will have to eat on the floor and use a corner in a basement for a toilet.

they were not forced to vacate the capital - that would make a leftist ecstatic

They were forced to take shelter in a parking garage with
no heat furniture, internet, cable TV, food service, or sanitation.
They were cast aside as refuse after serving the purpose of the Democrat Party

I guess each generation needs to learn the hard lessons in life for themselves...demons hate their country, their troops, and couldn’t care less about them.

For all the combined wealth the swamp has amassed, they could’ve had gourmet food shipped in and all kinds of morale boosters...but then again...the .Mil is seen by the swamp as a necessary evil.

Historically, (most) national leaders chew up and spit out their militaries to the degree that they need them and accomodate them only to the minimum degree required to maintain efficiency and ensure - at least minimal - loyalty. American leaders have generally been better about this than monarchists and - certainly - communist leaders.

The Democrats, especially after WWII, have been the least supportive party of our military. President Trump was noteworthy in that he seemed to have a genuine affection and respect for America's military. This still shows even after he's left office.

A pox on the House of Biden!

I remember reading that early in the occupation that the food choices of the troops were severely limited and that their access to any coffee was completely removed, because the congress-persons didn't like the smell (when the troops were sheltering in the capitol......). It seems virile, young men working 12+ hours can get rather pungent.
Anyone who has served knows that the .mil runs on caffeine.

AS I UNDERSTAND THESE THINGS, the swearing-in as Marshals has effectively nothing to do with recall by Governors. What the recall has to do with is the Title under which the Guard was called out.

Title X is PURELY CinC authority, and the Guvners have one option which is to salute smartly and ship the guys n gals out.
Title (assumed error here==>) XIII is where the Guvner gets them into law enforcement and disaster response.

As I read it they were ALL Title X troops.
SO, it looks like POTUS(S) has to release them.
