Reasons some of you miss receiving alerts...
We're learning more and more each day about what happens to these emails...
1. Some of you who have just registered within the last 24 hours before any alert may not have been processed and distributed to the EAS Coordinators yet. Sorry, but there is a bit of a lag...we send out updates of new registrations to the Coordinators normally once per day. Usually late at night or first thing in the morning.
2. E-Mail CAN be somewhat fickle. Those among us who use their normal e-mail client such as Outlook to send out the Alerts may not find out that some of the alerts did not go out for one reason or another for over four hours. And even then, most mail systems are designed to keep re-trying for up to several days...that is why in some instances, you may receive an alert DAYS after we send it. These are quirks of the nationwide email systems over which we have no control.
3. I am now using a Bulk Email package that notifies me immediately if your email server is not responding, your email box is full or your email account appears to be invalid. It gives me the opportunity to retry immediately. I am recommending that the other coordinators seriously consider downloading this free tool for their own use as well.
Thanks for bearing with us as we continue to fine tune the process.
