HEALTH Want To Tincture Japanese Knotweed for Flu Use

Does anybody here know which parts of the plant are tinctured? What is the ratio of plant matter to menstruum? Dosage? Thank you in advance!

It's going to be tough to do this time of year- the strongest medicine is in the root. I simply dug roots, cleaned them carefully, chopped them up into somewhat smallish pieces and then tinctured them using the standard "1:5" ratio- 1 ounce (by weight) root pieces to 5 ounces (volume) alcohol. I used 100 proof vodka...

Dosage is something I'm still trying to find solid info on... some research I did several years ago seems to indicate that you get about 50 mgs resveratrol in 1 cc of tincture, when made according to the above ratio. However, I can't find any *official* confirmation of that. We take 1-2 cc's in juice 2-3 times a day when anyone has flulike symptoms...

Thanks! That's way more than I knew before. The stuff grows on the riverbank here and along creeks. I'm just wondering if the potency will be affected by digging it in the cold weather. It's easy to get to and the ground isn't frozen solid so I think fairly straightforward. Maybe I should just order it for now. We're doing Elderberry doses right now trying to kick chest crud and colds. Tis the season......
