There's really only way to take immediate productive action to protect your household, and that is to lock-in today's prices by purchasing foods that store indefinitely.

Consumer Price Index for Beef (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics) tells the story:

We bought the previously offered uncooked chicken breasts, and that's what you do: rehydrate and fry, or bake, or grill. The lovely bride and I favor a butter, garlic and mushroom sauce-baked dish, and we won't turn our noses up at the FD breasts for sure. I'm glad we bought a case and wish we could have swung more. If I've a choice between ground burger (FD) and the patties I'd opt for the latter.

Personally I am going to see if we can't manage to snag a case of these. NOBODY else has offered patties that I recall, only the usual FD crumbles.

Folks, this works out to be about $10/pound for protein with a 25+ year shelf life. Check the prices of lean ground beef in the supermarket. This is a good deal. I got my case!

Now is the time to grab this stuff...before the market price hikes catch up with the processors. My guess is that this FD burger is the last of a lower priced product before prices go up. Not advertising for JC here, but if you watch out, some of this stuff is a real good deal for LTS.

Personally, I've also been loading up on "cheap" easily prepared LTS protein - peanut butter powder, refried bean flakes and powdered cheese. I've been buying the Keystone canned meat at WallyWorld as I can, too. The prices of the canned also beat the fresh price AT THIS POINT IN TIME. It won't last.

JC - I'm sure it's a great product, but we 'grow' our own. However, for those of you who like to procrastinate.... I just called our local locker to set up a drop off date for our steers. They are booking into late November right now, with very little wiggle room. Just sayin'.... If you've got the cash, you might want to jump on this.

Stuck at work but I had the wife place an order. Just sorry I couldn't manage to buy the remaining stock. ;-) Well hey, I haven't seen anything like these in literally years so I'll get them when I can.

Thank you sir, as always.

Taking cover
After you open the can how do you store the rest and how long do they last after you open a can. It would take us a month or more to eat a can.
