CHAT Wanna feel old (again?)

Just yesterday I was reminiscing about being old as I can remember knowing some folks who were born in the late 1800s. Specifically, my Uncle Bob for whom I was named. He was born in 1895 and passed in 1973.
I know what you mean. My grandparents (dad's side) were born in the mid/late 1880's. My grandparents (mom's side) were born at the turn of the last century. My folks were born just after World War One.

My great grandmother was the same she always said she lived in the most wonderful time. One day I asked her what she meant. She said “ I was bounced on the knees of civil war veterans. I remember seeing my first car, plane and dirigible and I got to see a man walk on the moon. “ she was born in 1883 and lived to 1982. She retired in 1970 after about my great grandfather had passed 10 years before. She proudly said no more getting up at 6::00 for me I am retired. I’m going to sleep to 7:00 or maybe 7:30 aren’t I living like the real rich people now. Still miss her.

Many on this forum lived in the most wonderful time. We grew up in the greatest empire in history at the height of its power. I think 1960 was probably the peak. As children we had freedoms children today cannot even grasp.
