WEATHER Violent Tornadoes Slam Southern States

I have a basement, my neighbor does not.
I told her she is welcome to come over whenever we have a warning.
We had violent T-Storms roll thru here all last night and this morning.
We also are under a watch.
She and her dog came over and waited out the latest batch of thunder and heavy rain.

DEVELOPING STORY: Major destruction has been reported across Tennessee and Alabama tonight as a massive storm system sweeps over the region. A number of confirmed tornadoes destroyed homes and business from Nashville to Huntsville.

There are also reports of dangerous flash floods in Middle Tennessee. Water rescues are underway in Robertson County, Tenn.

An unknown number of people have been killed and injured across the region.

The town of Henagar, Alabama took a direct hit and extensive damage has been reported. Scanner traffic reports a number of people trapped in debris. And a call went out for neighboring counties to send all available help. Click here to get Todd’s breaking news alerts.

The tornado watch for our area of Mississippi has now been cancelled. Nothing severe for us last night or this morning. Flooding rains and a little wind is all we got.

We got pounded around 6:45 last night. Tornado went through about 7 miles away. We got some pea-sized hail but thankfully no damage from hail or wind. It calmed around 7:15 and got light enough to see and check for downed tree limbs.
Then more nasty lightning came through around 1:30am. By then, the trazadone had worn off on our elderly dog and my wife had to get up to sit with her.

So far the only casualty at my place is my dwarf peachtree, which was loaded with fruit this year.
Now, not so much.
I built the chickens an ark.

There was a report of a fatality in Western NC due to a tornado. We had rain this morning, but we got a break so I ran to the store. I'm watching the radar, it is moving in my direction, but for now I have windows open for fresh air.
