That's a lot of pink in New Mexico...and Nebraska!

I was surprised to see how much of Nebraska was under a red flag warning! We're finally getting a soaking rain here, it's been raining pretty much since noon, and is supposed to rain until around 6pm this evening. It rained really hard for about 30 minutes but then slowed back down to a nice gentle rain.

For those in need of rain I hope and pray you get a good gentle soaking rain this week! If the wind is down this weekend I'm hoping to grill some ribs and veggies.

The Weather Prediction Center has a marginal risk of excessive rainfall out south of Highway 30 this evening as rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches will be possible. Some models are even suggesting that areas of 4-5" not out of the possibility.

Is this a good thing?

Yes and no. Lightning causes a lot of fires but at the same time this storm front is expected to add to the snow pack in the Sierras to the east of here so we'll see.

A warning has gone out for north of here regarding gusting winds, hail, lightning and funnel clouds.

And now there's a flash flood advisory for the area....
