The Chinese are just being the cowards they are. The proper response from the Philippines or their ally, the U.S. is to hunt down that Chink Coast Guard ship and sink it after giving their crew one minute to abandon ship. Hey China, play stupid games and win stupid prizes. They understand force.

Call me looney tunes but, I imagine the scene where the camera pans out and I see a bomb drop on the Chinese ship which then sinks under the ocean. Those on the Filipino ship stand on the deck and cheer.

There is a lot of dispute over who owns which waters in the Pacific.
These kinds of interactions have been the norm for over a decade.
Everyone claims everything, and there are a great many disputed areas.

US allyship allowed Phillipines and Japan to exert outsized naval claims post-WWII.
It isn't surprising that as China increases in strength while the US wanes, that they are claiming more ocean territory.
What happens when the (world) police don't show up?

Considering the thickness of the hulls on those cutters and the range involved, a couple of M2 .50 cals with API belts loaded would do the trick. After that it would likely get a whole lot more "sporty"....

It would seem that a countries coast guard does not know where it coast ends. The US seems to think that. I’m sure there all just peacekeepers.
