*Two window-washers who had been dangling from the side of New York City's One World Trade Center were rescued on Wednesday afternoon after a scaffold broke on the south side of the 104-story building, officials said.
A New York City Fire Department spokeswoman told the Los Angeles Times that both men were rescued around 2 p.m. after a scaffold broke on the south side of the building.
Both men were were said to be safe and did not suffer injuries, but the spokeswoman declined to answer additional questions.
A press conference is expected to be held shortly.
The scaffold broke around 12:45 p.m., but both men were fastened to safety harnesses, fire officials said.
"They're tied off. They're safe," and FDNY spokesman said.
It was not clear how the men were brought to the ground.
The 104-story building, also known as Freedom Tower, opened on Nov. 3 after years of delays. It is only a few feet from where the North Tower of the Twin Towers stood until Sept. 11, 2001.
