The point is... The Dems can pass a resolution to forgive the tax money or they can argue that the people don't deserve the tax forgiveness. If they want to go to court to get his EO overturned, again they argue the people don't deserve the money. The tax revenue is more important than finical relief to the people. And, if they do this Trump can say I tried to help the people.

Some say bad idea, I say Brilliant!

And even if they do somehow make the employers and employees pay it back, it may educate the working poor even more how the government steals your labors.

Agree most excellent !

Yes, and they are typically withheld weekly from peoples paycheck - not building up so that you owe it all later. What good does that do, to have to save to pay it anyway?
Every American should be forced to write Unc Sam a check every month. I think Neil Bortz suggested this.
"What good does that do"?

Gives the clueless a better chance to despise the goobermint.

As West likes to point out, the onus is TOTALLY on the EMPLOYERS for the payroll taxes, both their own portion and withholding and paying the employees' portion. There is currently no way, no systems, no IRS personnel setup to take such FICA and Medicare payments directly from the employees...when the deferral ends, the employers will be on the hook for all of it if it is not legislated to ultimately forgive it.

EO or not, the employers may be reluctant to go along with the deferral if they think it will not be forgiven because then they have to come up with a huge chunk of coin to catch up and payoff the deferral when the time comes.

Many employers will be burning the phone lines to their CPA and lawyers.

Would muse that they set up a savings account, and put the monies in there. A million banksters are dreaming of ways that they will make more loans off this new money. And make even more.

Trump says will unilaterally suspend payroll taxes if no deal on coronavirus aid

1 Min Read

BEDMINSTER, N.J. (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump vowed on Friday to act unilaterally to suspend payroll taxes for all Americans through the end of 2020 and possibly longer and extend supplemental unemployment benefits and other coronavirus aid if no deal can be reached with Democrats on a new spending bill.
“If Democrats continue to hold this critical relief hostage I will act under my authority as president to get Americans the relief they need,” Trump told a news conference. He added that an executive order could be signed by the end of the week, without specifying whether he meant this week or next week.

So, I've read 56 posts and learned he's going to defer payroll taxes. Is that all he said?

So if all withholding stops are the taxes still due on that money on 4-15? Wonder if I can cash in some stocks tax-free.

No, you can't because the tax on stock transfers is NOT PAYROLL TAX. NICE try though. Your tax preparer would tell ya the same thing, I suspect only not QUITE as politely.

So when do they start harassing the senior news human in the room and throw paint in his/her face?

Isn't that what peaceful protesters do?

Donald Trump transcribed speech 08-07-2020

Too long to post full speech

Snip below

Donald Trump: (00:00)
Thank you very much, and it’s a great honor to have everybody here. I know the press was not quite expecting this, so I appreciate your being able to attend. We have a terrific number of things and some very positive things to tell you tonight.

Donald Trump: (00:23)
I want to begin by giving an update on the economy. Economic health is vital to public health, that’s why our strategy to kill the China virus is focused on protecting those at greatest risk, while allowing younger and healthy Americans to safely return to work and safely return to school. Very important.

Donald Trump: (00:45)
We added 1.8 million new jobs in July, exceeding predictions for the third month in a row, and adding a total of over 9.3 million jobs since May. And I will say that the job growth that we’ve seen over the last three months, 9.3 million, is the single greatest three-month period of job creation in American history. That’s big stuff. That’s big news and great news.

Donald Trump: (01:12)
Over the past three months, the United States has surpassed market expectations by a total of 12 million new jobs. Over the last three months, the United States has added 623,000 manufacturing jobs. Remember you’d need a magic wand to get manufacturing jobs. And we’re getting them even in a pandemic, which is disappearing. It’s going to disappear. End snip

From what I gather, this will only happen IF the Dems don't push up something he'll sign. The Dems want the beast continued to be fed...I imagine this was just Trump trying to scare them into doing something. I don't see it happening.

Yup, all part of the chess game. Using the media/pulpit to push public perception.

Has Bedminster become his place of residence, until the election, or is he just on vacation? I'm asking this based on what he said about "not being seen for awhile".

Maybe right now he needs a better bunker than the WH has?

Who knows? I'm prone to over think things, and his non- explanation for his actions has my mind going in circles. I wouldn't expect any place to have a more secure bunker than the White House or a secret location for the COG.

There's info, speculation and informed speculation re: that on the thread discussing him not being seen for a while. . .

I wonder if it hasn't been breached or wired. It is all strange.
