Top exec at Bill and Hillary Clinton airport in Arkansas shot as federal agents serve search warrant

The executive director of an Arkansas airport bearing the names of former President Bill Clinton and former first lady and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was shot Tuesday, when federal agents attempted to serve a search warrant.

Arkansas State Police said the shooting occurred at 6 a.m. local time at a home on Durance Court in Little Rock, while the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was serving a search warrant at the home of airport Executive Director Bryan Malinowski.

Malinowski, 53, was shot and treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital. His condition was not specified.

An ATF agent was also injured in the shootout with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, and transported to a local hospital. The ATF and the Little Rock Police Department asked state police to investigate the incident.

Authorities have not said what led to the shooting or who opened fire first. The case will be presented to prosecutors, who will determine whether deadly force was used consistent within state law.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the ATF, state police and Little Rock police.
An airport spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that Malinowski was the airport's executive director.

"Today's incident saddens us, and we pray for everyone involved," a statement from Airport Commission Chairman Bill Walker said. "As the chairman of the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission, I have named Tom Clarke, the airport's deputy executive director, as acting executive director. The airport's day-to-day operations continue as normal."

Malinowski joined Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in 2008, as director of Properties, Planning and Development and was promoted to deputy director in 2009, according to his biography on the airport website.
The Clinton's ties to Arkansas stem from Bill Clinton's governorship from 1979 to 1981, and again from 1983 to 1992.

This may go WAY back to Bill Clinton and his governorship.

Accusations of impropriety

After Clinton became president, allegations were made that Clinton had used Arkansas State Police troopers to help him arrange extramarital affairs during his governorship. This scandal begame dubbed "Troopergate".[30] Clinton's Republican opponent in his 1986 gubernatorial reelection campaign accused Bill and Hillary Clinton of conflict of interest because Hillary's employer, the Rose Law Firm, did state business. The Clintons countered these accusations by claiming that state fees were walled off by the firm before her profits were calculated.[31] Clinton faced other allegations of improprieties occurring in his governorship.[32]

It is well known but not discussed in Wikipedia, that the Clinton Governorships were managed like a "fiefdom." Hillary was considered the "bridge" between separated Bill terms - and probably the "encouragement" to return to office.

‘Something stinks to high hell;’ Brother of LIT director shot by ATF agent speaks out on shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The brother of the Little Rock airport executive shot by federal agents serving a search warrant says he is fearful his brother may not survive and questions the timing of the incident.

Bryan Malinowski, 53, was injured in a shootout with agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at his west Little Rock home Tuesday morning.

His older brother, Matthew Malinowski, told NBC News reporter Deon Hampton that the family was not sure if the Clinton National Airport executive director was “going to make it in the next 24 hours” while confirming his brother was shot in the head during the exchange of gunfire.

ATF officials said agents were serving a search warrant at the home in the 100 block of Durance Court just after 6 a.m. The agents said Bryan Malinowski fired at them from inside the home, at which point they returned fire. One ATF agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was hospitalized.

Matthew Malinowski questioned why agents came to his brother’s home so early in the morning and did not approach him at the airport, claiming instead that the agents “broke down his door” leaving his brother no choice but to “defend himself.”

“There’s something fishy here. The ATF went after him in the worst possible way,” he told NBC News reporter Deon Hampton. “There’s no reason why they couldn’t have arrested him at work at the airport.”

The older Malinowski added that he thought his brother was well-liked at his work and had been successful with improving the status of LIT, saying he, “was turning around Little Rock airport.”

Malinowski also said it seemed odd that his brother could be entangled with the law, noting that he made more than $250,000 a year in salary, lived in a nice suburb with collections of guns and coins and was well connected in the Natural State.

“When someone makes that much money, there’s no incentive to do anything wrong,” the brother said, adding that Bryan Malinowski had just been in Washington D.C. meeting with Arkansas senators about business for the airport. “He has so much to lose.”

Neighbors shocked by shootout at home of Little Rock airport executive director
As far as Bryan Malinowski’s prognosis, his brother said doctors are keeping him on life support and not performing surgery because they don’t think he would survive.

“We don’t know how much longer he has to live,” Matthew Malinowski, who flew into Little Rock from Pennsylvania Tuesday night, said.

With the family still wondering how this all happened and federal investigators still not releasing the details of the search warrant, Matthew Malinowski feels the case against his brother doesn’t add up.

“Something stinks to high hell.”

ATF could have talked with him at work, but thought it would be fun to break down his door at 0600 even though they knew he was a gun collector. Hey, it was the same at Waco when the feds could have talked to Koresh in town, but decided to pull a raid.
All about optics and showing the people who really is boss.
Feds gotta be feds.

They should face consequences for their actions. As Groucho stated, you got a beef, talk to me at work, not odarkthirty wakened from a deep sleep........they know what they are doing, and they should be held accountable....
And they won't be, as long as they know they can hide behind their badges and do things which would get anyone else prosecuted or killed. Someday they won't be able to.

To be honest, their training drives them into these scenarios. The mantra of "everybody goes home" is the foundation of anything which is now colloquially referred to as "a citizen contact", and the planning which is included in an actual situation has to take in a lot of what ifs.

Everybody wants a guarantee out of a life in which each of us has but one.

Because of the wounded officer, this contact will have to be classified as a failure, taking into account that frame of mind. Something the investigation will require is a multitude of action items which will be designed to ensure that nothing like this happens again.

Nobody other than his family cares about the wounded and dying perpetrator. He got what was coming to him, in the cops' eyes. The wounded agent has already been visited in the hospital and told a bunch of times that it was a good shoot. He'll take his mandatory time off with pay, give his statement as soon as the doctor allows and go through his rehab on full pay and benefits until resuming full duties. Training will be adjusted to reflect the experience from this incident, and it won't be more gentle or relaxed for the citizenry.

Such is justice in the land.

Ok. It's bad when you see the age of someone in a story like this and think they're not that old because they're about your age. You start thinking aren't they a little young to be involved in something like this. Then you realize you have suddenly become the old fart you used to laugh about.

Apologies for the thread drift.

Yesterday while everyone was distracted by the judge ruling on illegals owning guns, the Exec Director of Bill and Hillary Clinton Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas was shot in the head by the ATF during a raid on his home. He is currently on life support.

Comment from his brother:

#UPDATE Neighbors spotted guns and ammunition being carried into an ATF trailer after @littlerockfire carried equipment used to cut through metal into the home of Bryan Malinowski, the executive director of the Clinton National Airport. He is hospitalized following a shootout with the ATF agents per @ARStatePolice. kark.com/crime/heavy-la…

If atf goes into a home with no knock in the wee hours of the morning how can they expect to not be shot at by a legally gun owning citizen? They set these up to intentionally trigger a reaction so they can hide behind lethal force. Its entrapment.

Shot by the ATF in his own house at 6am. This man may die.

Bryan Malinowski collected guns and other weapons, as well as coins, lived in an upper-middle class suburb and earned $253,000 a year.

A public records search of Bryan Malinowski showed no arrests or other run-ins with police.

Dark Chicago: A no knock raid at 6am is meant to be an execution.

Bryan Malinowski does not even merit a Wikipedia page.

There is some information about his "rise" elsewhere.

Malinowski joined Clinton National in 2008 as Director of Properties, Planning and Development and was promoted to Deputy Director in 2009. The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission appointed him Executive Director in November 2019. Previously, Malinowski held leadership positions with Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, El Paso International Airport and Lehigh Valley International Airport.

Malinowski holds a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. He is a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives Accredited Airport Executive Program and is a certified flight instructor with instrument and multi-engine ratings.

It should be noted that Bill Clinton left the governorship in 1992 and the Presidency in 2001.

Hillary has not left the position as "fixer" yet.

There are a whole lot of details missing from that story.
The only detail not missing is that ATF is totally out of control. I lost the place where Malinowski's brother commented online.

He said his brother collected guns but never used them, plus he had a salary of about $250,000 a year and didn't do anything illegal, he was law-abiding and the ATF could have arrested him anywhere on the way to work, at work, driving to work. He said his brother is now on life support with half of his brain missing.

He probably had a Slide Fire or a forced reset trigger. Definitely justified death sentence for those dastardly crimes carried out by the BATF.

First, the ATF should be disbanded. Secondly, there is virtually no need for the ATF or any other law enforcement agency to use no-knock warrants. There are at least a hundred other, safer means of executing a warrant.

The no-knocks are a lazy man's tool. They are quick and require little or no surveillance, instead of the longer and harder need to watch a suspect and establish his (or her) travel patterns over time.

Lastly, in this era of home invasion robberies, no one can be expected to be awakened from a sound sleep and automatically know that the police are executing a warrant, instead of criminals perpetrating a home invasion. You might say that the cops always shout their identity when they enter, but there is no way to know whether a semi-awake person understood that or even heard them.

Law enforcement is loathe to admit that home invasion criminals sometimes shout that they are the police, as they break through a door. How in the 'ell is a resident supposed to know if the invaders are cops or criminals?

All home warrant services should be conducted by uniformed officers using plainly and officially marked police vehicles.

The blinking blue lights sort of give it away.

Which may be good for the Warranted, but might be bad for the police.

You get to ride to your task in a vehicle marked "shoot here."

Arkansas airport executive dies after shootout with federal agents

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — The executive director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, has died after being shot by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives during a raid of his home early Tuesday morning.

53-year-old Bryan Malinowski reportedly exchanged gunfire with the agents as they served a search warrant at the Chenal Valley residence just after 6 a.m. Tuesday.

No details have been released about the warrant that led them to storm the residence.

An ATF agent was also injured in the exchange of gunfire and was sent to the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.

Matthew Malinowski, the brother of Bryan Malinowski, says the agents broke down the door of his brother's home and shot him in the head with a high caliber rifle.

The ATF burst into his house, and they did it in a manner that was the most dangerous combination possible. Why?" said Matthew Malinowski. "The easiest way to have taken care of this situation - the most common way - would be to wait until he gets in his car, pull over and arrest him. Or you wait until he comes to work and you arrest him there."
On Thursday afternoon, the Malinowski family released the following statement through Little Rock attorney Bud Cummins questioning the ATF's actions:

"Our family has endured an unspeakable tragedy and one that is almost impossible to understand. We are mourning the loss of Bryan, who passed away earlier today. Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the government agent who was injured yesterday, and to his family. We do not understand the government’s decisions which led to a dawn raid on a private home and triggered the use of deadly force. We are obviously concerned about the allegations in the affidavit released by the government today. Even if the allegations in the affidavit are true, they don’t begin to justify what happened.

At worst, Bryan Malinowski, a gun owner and gun enthusiast, stood accused of making private firearm sales to a person who may not have been legally entitled to purchase the guns. For now, we will wait for all the facts to come out. In the meantime, we ask that the public and the media respect our privacy."

Malinowski joined Clinton National in 2008 as director of properties, planning and development. He was appointed executive director in November 2019 and was responsible for the overall administration, operations, maintenance and development of the state's largest airport.

Airport officials were shocked by the violent and unexplained encounter with law enforcement.

Hours after it happened Airport Commission Chairman Bill Walker released a statement saying, "Today's incident saddens us, and we pray for everyone involved."

Tom Clarke, the airport's deputy executive director, was named acting executive director. It's unclear if he will assume the post on a permanent basis in the wake of Malinowski's death.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division has been asked to investigate the incident.

After ASP finishes its investigation, the file will be handed over to the prosecuting attorney who will determine if the use of deadly force was justified under Arkansas state law.

The chair of the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission issued a statement on Malinowski's death, saying: "With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of our executive director Bryan Malinowski. Bryan was a 16-year employee of the airport. Under his leadership, our airport has experienced significant growth and success, expanding services and offerings to our community and state. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Bryan's wife, Maer, loved ones and friends.”
