Posting this on the main because it is so time sensitive - Amazon Kindle books 1.99 today over 100 books on everything from home butchering and preserving, to knitting and livestock. These are mostly "real" books, I have a number in hard copy that I actually got on Kindle too for quick reference - I spent 26 dollars and got everything from sock knitting books I had wanted but couldn't pay full price for to ones on cat and dog behavior for reference materials.

I didn't get any livestock books myself but they had sheep, horses, calves, rabbits and several others, a lot of gardening books and food preservation/canning etc.

This is not to be missed, they are not free, but for the price of one or two hard copy books you can get a ton of these to review and then decide if you want to invest in the hard copy later.

Here is the Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=pe_170810_108182070_pe_row1_b3/?docId=1001923121&ie=UTF8

If you get the page with what looks like one book on Freezer Canning just click on it, the other 99 books will show up.

Thanks. My nephew just down loaded the kindle reader for me so I was able to download one that looked interesting.

Thanks Melodi! There are a few that I would like to purchase in hard copy format. I'm always worried about the power going out for an extended period of time and my little kindle being useless without a charge.

Thanks Melodi!!! Josie, I understand your reluctance to purchase for your kindle when you might want the hard copy...what I do when I find free or really cheap kindle downloads available I download what interests me. I then can decide if I really want or need to have the hard copy. Sometimes I find a book will not really have the indepth info I need or the info I want is only in one chapter and easily transcribed by hand and I don't need to spend $17 for the hard copy when I was able to glean the info I need for $1.99.

Pebbles this is exactly what I do, also with really cheap books I may get a Kindle copy just for quick and easy reference - but mostly I use it either for just reading and/or with books like this to decide if I want the hard-copy version later. The knitting books and the recipe books are ones I really like to do this with because sometimes they are just exactly what I need and am going to want to use until the real book falls apart and other times I realize I have all the information already and don't really want to order it from the US. That's another issue for me, a lot of these books are pretty much US aimed only, even if you buy them on Amazon UK they order them from the US and I pay high shipping either way, since Amazon UK charges the moon to ship to Ireland.

But I would never depend on these books being there if I only have them on Kindle, that's why 1.99 is a good deal!

I prefer hard copy, too, but I also have no intention of my Kindle becoming worthless without electricity. :D Look into getting both a solar charger for USB devices as well as a hand-crank dynamo for USB devices.

Melodi, thanks for the heads-up! I even have an Amazon gift certificate that needs spending.
