I needed this...thank you. I lost my father in January at ninety years old. He talked more about VN and his faith in his last years than he ever did when he was younger. He was thirty nine when he went in 68 and a seasoned career soldier with two tours in Korea behind him but it still left it's mark on him. What hurt him the most was all the young men they lost. He also talked about the children and how they used them to kill the soldiers...he left a lot unsaid but I could read between the lines.

Your DH was blessed to have a wife faithfully doing her part for his salvation and I'm sure he knew it and loved you even more for it. That was a powerful gift on your part, to never give up.

Yes, and there was a time I asked God WHY He didn't let him live so he could tell it.
But>>>His way is perfect and He knows what He is doing. That is the only hope I find in this world we live in today.
HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING!!!

Believe it!!
He was not required to stay and suffer more in this life. His work was finished here. You are doing a fine job of telling his story.Thank you for sharing, and thanks to all the good men and women who were required to do unspeakable things on our behalf.

As a follow-up>>>>as Mike lay dying and I knew he would be gone soon on that last day, I was so tired. I had been up almost non-stop watching over him and trying to make him more comfortable. I lay my head down on the bed in his lap and I had a wonderful dream.

I dreamed that Mike and I were both in heaven. We were both about 5 years old and we held hands and ran through a field of white and yellow flowers>>>>it was AWESOME!! And I woke up as he took his last breath. But God had given me a promise in that dream too......
A dream that can come true.
