Dead Ebola Patients Resurrect?

By Franklin Doloquee
Two Ebola patients, who died of the virus in separate communities in Nimba County have reportedly resurrected in the county. The victims, both females, believed to be in their 60s and 40s respectively, died of the Ebola virus recently in Hope Village Community and the Catholic Community in Ganta, Nimba.

But to the amazement of residents and onlookers on Monday, the deceased reportedly regained life in total disbelief. The NewDawn Nimba County correspondent said the late Dorris Quoi of Hope Village Community and the second victim only identified as Ma Kebeh, said to be in her late 60s, were about to be taken for burial when they resurrected.

Ma Kebeh had reportedly been in door for two nights without food and medication before her alleged death. Nimba County has had bazaar news of Ebola cases with a native doctor from the county, who claimed that he could cure infected victims, dying of the virus himself last week.

News of the resurrection of the two victims has reportedly created panic in residents of Hope Village Community and Ganta at large, with some citizens describing Dorris Quoi as a ghost, who shouldn't live among them. Since the Ebola outbreak in Nimba County, this is the first incident of dead victims resurrecting.

You are telling us that you would pass on that headline? It's gold, even if everyone knows that it's either fake or some weird African thing.

For what it's worth All Africa is not a parody site, it's about as legit as it gets in Africa.

Yeah. The problem over there is the degree to which stuff that's right out of the National Enquirer's reject bin gets "taken to heart" over there.

You want weird? I saw this book today for the first time during a trip to Goodwill. Jane Austen's Elizabeth Bennet fights zombies in addition to dealing with her culture's restrictions on women and winning over her Mr. Darcy (and I'm not kidding). I would have bought it purely for the entertainment value except that I'm not a zombie fan.

This is actually common in certian areas of Africa. I was talking to my religious studies professor, who is also a friend. Being a former minister at a church he had a friend that was a long term missionary in Central Africa. He said that he left a big city he was in to go to a funeral of a friend out in the bush. He seriously felt the spirit telling him to tell the deceased to rise. He attributed it to something he ate at first. But the further he walked into the home the stronger the feeling. Finally he went up to the deceased and spoke "rise sister". Well she did. But like I said it is decently commmon in some areas of Africa. Talk about a mustard seed of faith.

One possible lesson to draw from this is that when you get Ebola and pass out, people may be too squeamish or wrapped up in layers of protective gear (unable to see, hear, or feel much) to be able to check closely whether you're actually dead, before disposing of your body.
