Prep Genrl The new Ball rose canning jars are out in some stores

Apparently, the Ball canning jars with different colors have been used for
wedding receptions/dinners to decorate the tables.

I found that out from an excited lady in the canning section of a store, several years ago.
She excitedly asked me if I know how important the Ball jar color was for upcoming wedding
preparations. I replied, no, I didn't know. I stopped short of saying that I also didn't care.
She looked at me like I was from another planet and walked away. Oh well....

This may explain the 12.99 for a 4-pack of (Rose) quarts, when the clear quart jars are 10.99/doz.

I saw fluted Ball canning jars at Walmart this week. I had never seen those before and wasn't sure what would be a good use for them. Jellies maybe? Or as a drinking glass? They are pretty.

Ball is trying to fill that niche opening in the market that wants a specialty jar for their honey or preserves biz - the minimum buy from the other sources is too large or wayyyyyyyyy $$$$$ >>> the honey bear jars are crazy $$$

I love those! I love jars in general...all the colors but, I won't can in a colored jar. For some strange reason, I find it unappetizing. With our well water, they wouldn't look pretty after a few cannings anyway. Adding vinegar to the canner water helps very little. On the other hand, I could find other uses for all the pretty jars.

That rose one is gorgeous!
