PREP The lost superfoods book

Knoxville's Joker

Has No Life - Lives on TB
(the link has a bunch of pictures and is just a bunch of self promotion for the book so I will not bore folks with that)

I kept on getting bombarded with ads on the book on social media.

I finally bought a copy just out of curiosity.

It is a highly condensed book with recipes of all main survival foods across history and cultures.

It also has an overview section on all the different main preservation techniques.

270 pages. Good for folks just getting into things. But most hardcore preppers would know most of the information in the book already.

Once I finally get fiber internet I will probably do some youtube videos on some of the recipes...

Are the pages in color, I bought something similiar to that a few years back and they pages were in black and white and the book was at least $40. I can't even find it now.

They are in glorious full color. The authors go into great detail on the full history or a condensed history at least on each major survival food. And covers all the major preservation techniquest two times over. The tail end of the book is a plant identification section.

Most of the survival books are fluff. This one is definately a good coffee table book you won't be able to put down. And the writing style is easy to follow.

The problem with a lot of the survival books are that the authors tend to run afoul of uncle sam.

I like the fact that all the different foods he lists a simple recipe list, and in some cases the bulk recipe, and the smaller recipe batch recipe.

I will only say if you have spare money the book is worth looking into.

I couldn't sleep last night and discovered that I had been gifted with a PDF version of this book, and I can say that overall, it is very good. There were a few things I would have added, such as letting people know that if they get their yeast directly from the air, it may be fantastic, or it might taste terrible. The problem isn't you. It is simply that not all yeast is created equal. My first book with sourdough suggested if this happens, dump the mess in the composter and start over on a different day in your kitchen.

But most of it is useful, the pictures are great, and I like the large and small recipes. The canning advice is accurate. Though I fell asleep (now 3 am, I'd been reading since 1:30 am), the author has the basics.

I may order the hard copy at some point, though without a book depository, I don't do that nearly as much as I used to.

The book had 4 authors. The yeast stuff, honestly, you could have a separate book just on yeast and the history of yeast. There is too much to miss just on the topic of yeast.
