Feature, not bug.

I wanna know how the politicians will be paid their bribes, that's the system I want :D

In stuff and influence rather than cash. A piece of property will suddenly change hands. A piece of art will move from one private museum to the next or the owner's name will suddenly change while no one notices. Their kids will be accepted into Uppity Butt Crack University and tuition magically gets paid via a "scholarship."

This already happens in so many ways at so many levels all we'll see in an expansion of tricks. Let the whoring commence (or continue).

I'm glad Rubino spoke of Black markets as I have typed about on a related thread. I wonder if a profession of arbiter would come into existence-(a person who decides what the value of one commodity is to another). In other words, Is my 100 oz. of silver tradeable for a horse, or a six month food supply for a 1000rds of 223. An Arbiter would take a small fee that both parties would have to agree to beforehand and then decide if the deal was fair.

And that being said, the Arbiter would have to have a very fluid knowledge of current events and constant price changes-kind of like a commodities trader. Just a thought.

Your Arbiter is known as Mr. Market. Establishing prices are what markets DO. Then, word gets around.

Learn what 'hacksilver' is and how it worked over a thousand years ago. Large silver pieces too valuable to trade whole were literally hacked up with axes or knives and traded by weight - everyone carried scales to weigh silver.

And remember 2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits, a dollar.... :D

ETA - and poke around for more on the web re, Viking hoards with pictures - like Hacksilver, hoards and ancient jewellery: Unlocking the mysteries of Scottish silver

Not trying to derail the thread.

I'm simply stating that Black Markets will occur if they try to start CBDC. An Abiteur simply creates an environment for business to be conducted wherein both participants are equally compensated.

Sort of like barter. The point is that It keeps the .gov out of it.

I am not denegrating anyone here but it is apparent by some responses that you really don’t interact economically with the working poor and working destitute.

You also may not realize that using cash cards often come with a convenience fee.

Drug dealers don’t take cash cards. Some liquor stores don’t take certain types of cash cards. Some types of cash cards aren’t accepted by some businesses or for some types of transactions. That alone is going to create significant bookkeeping issues.

The homeless aren’t looking for cash cards as they can’t be spent on many things in their world including flop houses.

The list goes on and on.

There are a lot of tracking issues and loss of privacy involved in this move to digital currency. People better wake up.

The above is why I'm against this.

Now my ex-Sister-in-Law (Hispanic) was using Postal Money orders to pay her Rent. Not sure what changed by my mom has gotten herself involved with in this mess by taking S-I-L cash and writing out a personal check to rental company which my mom mails the check to Rental Company. SIL remains unbanked.
