Insulin was discovered back in the 1920's. I understand the need to purify the extract so that it's safe for human consumption. I don't understand that if they were able to make it with 100 year old technology why can't it be produced today? Using the old or current technology?

I'm confused. Something is just not adding up.

The original source that proved it worked was extracted from pigs. If you had a pig farm and set up a lab, I am sure it could be done.

Modern methods include inserting genes for making insulin into bacteria and having them make it. It is not patented anymore, but the FDA makes it darn near impossible for someone else other than the original manufacturer to make it based on a bunch of legal requirements and other BS set up by big pharma to protect their profits way beyond what a normal patent gives us serfs when we invent something.

OK, we have discovered so far that the 1920s patent is still out there for all the world to see and Nightwolf even found the directions they used for making it.

The problem is that some key ingredients that were easy to source at the time, even by a Jewish Lady Doctor finding herself in Japanese occupied China (and herself a type one diabetic) could easily get.

The big problem is assuring purity for injection and being an animal product there is a potential for a hypersensitivity reaction (I'm typing he's talking lol).

Anyway, we are looking at this.
