PORTLAND, Ore. — Protests continue Saturday night in Portland as they have for almost two months.
The crowds appeared to be dwindling before federal agents were brought into the city. On Friday night, the crowd of protesters was upwards of 3,000 people, the Department of Homeland Security said.
In a joint news conference, Oregon Assistant District Attorney Craig Gabriel said that the main source of conflict between federal agents and demonstrators was the damage to the fence around the federal courthouse by demonstrators.
"f protestors don’t seek to damage or destroy the fence then the officers have no need to go outside the fence or leave federal property," Gabriel said in the phone conference.

The DHS spokesperson referred to demonstrators as anarchists and rioters. He said that demonstrators attempted to drive a vehicle into the fence and set fire to it more than once.
On Friday, the U.S. Attorney for Oregon Billy Williams showed reporters the damage outside the Mark O. Hatfield Federal Courthouse. According to federal prosecutors, there has been more than $50,000 in damage from graffiti, fires and vandalism.
Williams also lashed out at city and community leaders for not taking control of the nightly protests.
“This is just mindless violence and anyone who defends the violence is enabling this to continue,” he said.
Williams said 18 people have been arrested on federal charges for their alleged roles in the violence at the federal courthouse this week.
Gabriel said a total of 60 people had been arrested on or around the federal courthouse property since early July. There are 46 pending charges, according to Gabriel, including 30 misdemeanors, 8 felonies and 8 violation citations. The crimes range from assault on a federal officer to arson and willfully damaging federal property.
Residents downtown, however, are not concerned with the damage to the courthouse so much as they are concerned with being tear-gassed in their homes and being kept awake by fireworks and commotion as Portland enters almost 60 days of protest.
They say they want the nightly protests to end.

I joined Twitter, MzKitty, even made a post. Not sure how much I will use it, but it does give some options. The limit seems to be 300 words or so, which likely will keep the ranting and raving to a minimum.

If the blm, which has few blacks in it anymore, seriously intends to do the whole neighborhood thang, they will need to go much, much farther out. Portland is a mixture of both apartment and housing units per city blocks. It is also true that the moneyed classes don't live anywhere near downtown much. They are in SW, up by the zoo in the forest park area, or in specific areas in the north. Vast sections of Portland, NE, SE etc are full of blob apartments built in the 60's and 70's full of multicultural paradise types, NW has some rich people in it to, but they will turn on blm if they start messing with the rich people.
There are also parts of not only Portland, but out in the deep burbs, Clackamas county, Washington county where they got lots of deer rifles. I watched that video from Austin, Texas where the guy shot at them.
blm just keeps pushing, and pushing, convinced nobody will ever push back. dont' know why, but they get into some of the gang banger areas in east Portland and those fools will find out real fast.

This escalated really fast tonight. The exchange was long and a lot of “heavy fire” on both sides. The fence is a mess. People are hiding behind a phone and a Facebook account to plead media rights. With the Main Street secured 2 trucks of swat team looking teams are in to backup and expand the perimeter. These rioters are not ready to end the night yet.

They seem to be taking a breather while all the new guests are checked into federal custody. It was like watching a really weird war movie.

There is such a thing as riot yoga to attempt to avoid arrest, weird to watch.
Some idiot brought a lap top to a riot, lost it, and is honestly hunting for it like there is a chance of recovery for his device.
The feds are done playing around for sure at this point.
If the protesters are chased far enough Portland police department will help hold the streets.
Don’t mess with the fence seems so simple but they are shocked when there is a reaction.
I give Portland maybe 2 nights max before live fire happens. Some idiot riot participants will come armed after tonight’s show, and then it’s just a matter of time for stupid to win out. Like most other events tonight it will be “friendly fire” but allows the gloves to come off.
