Thanks for starting this thread! From Western WA I can say this is one of the worst I have seen in my lifetime as far as road conditions go....blizzard conditions, temps dropping below 20 tonight, 35-40 mph winds most places and heavy blowing snow. Up north, the wind and cold even more severe. A cargo plane went off the runway at SeaTac (no injuries) and there was just a fatal collision reported at the Tacoma Dome on I-5. Crashes everywhere. Highways being shut down all over and people still out there stuck in delayed "rush hour" traffic. Power outages widespread. Our lights are blinking here. Temps not expected to warm tomorrow, but get colder before it warms up.
On Friday we have to drive the first leg of our trip to AZ - we will hopefully make the first 500 miles to Helena, but storms are coming from the south into Alberta, so it will be the first year we have awful weather to drive through.
We have to drive through the mountains and the roads are interesting on a sunny day in parts, so we will have our snow gear with us along with swimsuits and flipflops for Arizona. It will sure be good to get there......
It is -30C tonight and clearing and I HAVE to drive into town tomorrow to make some last minute pickups for packing. That is -25F I believe - a bit early for those temps.
