There are two main groups wanting radical change. There is a group on the right and a group on the left. The group on the left is supported by communist and socialist organizations and while both groups want change, the change they want is diametrically opposed. I want almost NOTHING that this OWS group wants and the fact that the likes of HUGO Chavez supports it speaks volumes to the kinds of people that DO support this group. Nobody here said anything about change is not necessary, I think most of us don't want the kind of change as supported by the list of leftists.

So are you saying as long as we all want change the Tea Partiers and the OWS can hold hands and be UNITED in desiring CHANGE? Sounds like a Bam Bam slogan, HOPE AND CHANGE with no substance behind it.

I honestly believe that there are people who are involved in OWS who are not members of the listed organizations, and some of them are there with the best of intentions. However, they will be absorbed, I'm afraid, by the larger movement, and whatever good ideas and good intentions they have will be lost in the shuffle. I believe some of them will see the light and try to pull back when things get more violent, as that is not their idea of where this should go. I also think they're greatly outnumbered.

I'm hoping (and so far been disappointed) that average mainstream Americans get more involved to protest because the citizens of this country are being asked to shoulder a burden placed upon then not of their making.

I don't want to see is the rabid right create a form of fascism, where Government supports Corporations to the detriment the people. Nor do I want to see a socialist society where the incentive to work hard and produce products of value is quashed. I see both extreme right and extreme left as equally harmful to this nation.

I am an average middle of the road American. I don't subscribe to leftist ideals, nor the right wing claptrap I often read here.

I will pay taxes if not excessive, everyone pays and they are being spent wisely. I want every legislator in every city, state, and Washington DC to understand this not their money it is the citizens money that is being spent and we demand an accounting of it.

I want those same people to understand we have entrusted them to take care of the USA on our behalf, if they fail in that they will be held accountable. I want them to respect the people because we are in charge, not them, we tell them what to do.

I believe that Americans should provide for themselves first and then share with others, not the other way around. If we did this we wouldn't have 45 million Americans on food stamps. I believe that family should support family and that communities should help communities, that people should always be as self sufficient as possible.

I believe that government at all levels needs to get the hell out of people's personal lives and respect their privacy. I believe that we are in the preliminary stages of a police state because the government knows the people are not happy with them and are afraid of us.

Finally I believe we are in the first stages of a revolution as the government has become ineffective. Ineffective because of their alliances and hidden obligations to others instead of it's own people and cannot act or will not act in favor of it's citizens. The people must step provide the solutions our government will not because this nation is it's people. The strength of this nation it is not banks and corporations as neither of those amount to anything with out it's employees that work for them for a fair wage nor this nation without it's citizens who pay a fair share of taxes.

This is why I want to see citizens get involved, we are the nation, not the big shots who have screwed the pooch. With tiny numbers they will do nothing but laugh just like you are doing of the OWS'ers. Because there is no massive money, but masses of citizen resisting trump massive money. 50 million Americans, decent average Americans resist them, they will flee like cockroaches in the light. But we need to have a plan and we need to be thinking but why not start with our Constitution which seems to have been discarded by those entrusted to protect it.

It includes the younger generations who engage in unsafe sex practices for their own person pleasure. They turn around and demand others pay to feed, cloth, education, and care for any offspring that come from such unsafe practices. If an STD is transmitted, they demand others pay for R&D so that drugs can be developed to treat such aliments. Oh, they also want others to pay for or subsidized the costs of those drugs as well. It includes idiots who had a combined income of $175K-$225K/year and thought they could afford a $600K+ home. Those same people want to be bailed out by others as well, but they are demanding their homes still have excessive values, because heaven forbid their home only be worth $200K!

Individual greed has caused all of our problems. From lending for homes and higher ed, to the cradle to the grave welfare lifestyle. The people voted for their representatives. They voted for more and more debt, for the military industrial complex, for the real estate industrial complex. People don't want to think about these things logically anymore, and only a few issues are so absurd that it wakes people grumble, i.e. Bridge to nowhere.

We had other racial attacks where it seems young white kids aren't embarrassing the "lets all get along" idea of racial harmony (a black guy killed by dragging him from a truck).

Things will likely get worse this coming election season. It could get very ugly, but the fact will remain we will have a % of the population who claims to want things be x, y, and z, and if you look deep enough, that x, y, and z benefit them in some fashion at the expense of others (and no, not just "the rich").

The groups supporting OWS want nothing less than the destruction of the country as you and I have known it.

OWS is a symptom of the illness in our country.
You don't fix an illness by giving in to the symptoms. You recognize the underlying illness and treat the illness.

The government should not bail out students, homeowners or banks.
The government has no business providing welfare or supplimentary income of any form to anyone simply because they dont have a job or make enough money.
The social security program should be wound down. Since money was taken from individuals by force, they should get what they paid in, adjusted for inflation, minus what they have already been paid. If they invest it wisely or they squander it stupidly, it's their problem.

None of what I said is likely to happen. Our economy and most likely our country will crash and then all of us will lose everything. Except those rich people everyone likes to hate.

I'd say we're there. Which sucks BIGTIME. Problem is, the reaction to that will be socialism/communism, which is even worse.

Constitutionalism is, IMO, the answer to the government's role---economically, I support distributism (maximum number of property owners and producers in a society) but failing that, a capitalism that has nothing to gain from government (bailouts/influence/eminent domain favors, etc.) seems like a better option than either what we have now, which doesn't work, or the Marxist solution, which doesn't work any better.
