…… [Tech Help?] My Speakers keep coming on

A couple websites, including TB2K tonight, either seem to have scripts that cause my computer to turn the speakers on, which is followed by multimedia content on the website (or thread) being played; OR, something is running on MY computer.

I finally noticed the speaker icon at the top of the tab, which I am able to click off,

but does anyone know how I stop my computer from doing this? Or it it scripts running on the websites?

I’ve had this problem with a Klipsch soundbar. The soundbar would come on in the middle of the night. Really freaked me out initially. Thought someone was in our house. The soundbar is not connected for now. I’ll tackle the problem after a few hundred other problems are taken care of. But…OP…you are not alone.

I think this has something to to with YT. I've been experiencing several types of unusual behavior with their site and videos for the last few days, including what you described on the TB2K site (YT videos in TB2K posts start playing automatically). Directly on the YT site itself, I see videos launch to a new page and start playing even if I just mouse hover over them (no click).

My speakers always 'click' when going to tb2k. - That just started over the last few months.
Not on a page with media, just the domain itself.
The click is identical to the one I hear when they are activated by starting any audio or video player such as VLC or Zoom.

Okay, I only have one tab open - to the conservative treehouse, and as you can see, the speaker surfaces there and it's not just one video that plays, but it seems like every video that's been posted on that link are playing simultaneously; which results in an annoying, garbled mess.

I think this is something in my Brave browser update. When I click on the circled bottom right speaker with an "x" in it, a drop-down appears with 3 choices:

1) Always allow sound on (and then it gives CTH's site address)

2) Continue muting sound

3) Or I can click "Manage" which takes me to Brave's 'settings' page which brings this up...

The problem is, when I tell Brave not to play sound on CTH, and tweets brought over there, I have to click on the tweet and listen to them on twitter. P in the A.

The setting is in YouTube, not the browser. YouTube vids, when embedded here, still run from the YouTube site. Thus, they use the member’s YouTube settings.
