It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
The movie mix comes from youtube and archive.org. That will continue for the future.

The first movie is The Meg. This 2018 action adventure film is loosely based on the Steve Alten novel series and stars Jason Statham as a deep sea rescue diver. This could legitimately be called a summer popcorn movie. Don't think too hard, just kick back and enjoy the show.

- A group of scientists exploring the Marianas Trench (deepest trench in the ocean) encounter the largest marine predator that has ever existed - the Megalodon. See the first movie poster for a size perspective.

The second movie is Sicario: Day of the Soldado or Sicario 2. This 2018 action film stars Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin. It is the follow-up to the original Sicario (2015) which I have not found to post. Sicario 1 is good and one you should watch if you have the chance and like action films. The second one is different enough that you don't miss that much having not seen the first one. Like the first, this is a gritty film and earns its' R rating through realistic cartel violence. Among other things, this film gets into the cartel control of people coming from Mexico across the US border as well as cartel rivalries.

The drug war on the U.S.-Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver re-teams with Alejandro and releases chaos south of the border.

The third movie is The Omega Man. This 1971 post-viral outbreak film with Charlton Heston is the second movie based on the 1954 sci-fi horror novel "I am Legend" by Richard Matheson. The fourth movie is Soylent Green. This 1973 film stars Charleton Heston and Chuck Conners in a dystopian future NYC.

A tale of Earth in despair in 2022. Natural food like fruits, vegetables, and meat among others are now extinct. Earth is overpopulated and New York City has 40 million starving, poverty-stricken people. The only way they survive is with water rations and eating a mysterious food called Soylent Green. A detective investigates the murder of the president of the Soylent company. The truth he uncovers is more disturbing than the Earth in turmoil when he learns the secret ingredient of Soylent Green.

The fifth movie is Logan's Run. This 1976 dystopian future film stars Michael York, Jenny Agutter, and Farrah Fawcett.

- Imagine a world where each and every day is the best day of your life...until you turn 30.

It is 2274. A holocaust has decimated the Earth, and the survivors sealed themselves into a domed city near Washington, D.C. To maintain the population balance, the computers that run the city have decreed that all people must die at thirty. This system is enforced by "sandmen": black-clad police operatives who kill "runners" (those who attempt to live beyond thirty). Logan, a sandman, is sent on a mission to find "Sanctuary", which is a code word used by the master computer to describe what it believes is a place to which runners have been escaping.

The sixth movie is Angel and the Badman. This 1947 western romance stars John Wayne, Gail Russell, Harry Carey, and Bruce Cabot.

Quirt Evans, an all round bad guy, is nursed back to health and sought after by Penelope Worth, a Quaker girl. He eventually finds himself having to choose between his world and the world Penelope lives in.

- The dramatic story of a girl in a man's world who taught a killer the real meaning of love!

Well, you have totally outdone yourself yet again. This week's selection is doomer GOLD. I have been looking for a downloadable copy of Soylent Green for forever-and then you throw Omega Man AND AND AND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Logan's Run on the same bill? Be still my beating heart; movies heaven awaits. These movies are pure doomer gold.

Can't thank you enough for finding and posting this week's selection.

These are some great choices and links, thanks. It's been years since I watched Logan's Run, and Charlton Heston seems to be good in everything.

Watched The Meg. Totally predictable all the way through. Well put together, quite enjoyable. As one critic said, it's a nicely done B movie. The most surprising thing was when it cut to black at the end instead of showing us that there's (dumm da dumm dumm) ANOTHER ONE out there. Great flick. :)
