It's movie time on TB2K again. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like it to guide future selections.
The movie mix comes from youtube and archive.org. That may continue for the future.
Click the "movies" tag at top to see a list of previous movie threads.
The movie trailers are located in post #7.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is Suicide Squad. This 2016 DC Comics adventure film stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie. I like these kind of movies. It's a wild ride, but fun. It is worth watching the movie trailer below. It's decently done and doesn't give away most of the movie.

It feels good to be bad...With Superman dead, the world needs a new band of superheroes to step into the breach. Senior US Intelligence officer Amanda Waller comes up with a daring plan - use extreme criminals with special abilities to fight crime, in exchange for them receiving reduced sentences. The band of crime-fighting criminals is officially known as Task Force X, but due to the nature of their mission a more appropriate name would be Suicide Squad.

The second movie is The November Man. This 2014 spy thriller stars Pierce Brosnon, Luke Bracey, and Olga Kurylenko.

An ex-C.I.A. operative is brought back in on a very personal mission and finds himself pitted against his former pupil in a deadly game involving high level C.I.A. officials and the Russian President-elect.

The third movie is Deep Rising. This 1998 adventure horror film stars Treat Williams, Famke Jannsen, and Anthony Heald.

A group of heavily armed hijackers board a luxury ocean liner in the South Pacific Ocean to loot it, only to do battle with a series of large-sized, tentacled, man-eating sea creatures who had already invaded the ship.

This is an example of a well made B movie. A group of mercenaries hijack a cruise ship that happens to host a giant sea creature- You can't make this up and it works. This is a cheesy blast and both Treat Wiliams and Famke Jannsen are good and one wonders why they never achieved more stardom. The direction is sublime and the pacing is excellent. The effects would have been a hindrance if the film tried to be a more serious straightforward drama but because it is so tongue in cheek they work in favor. This is a must watch.

The fourth movie is Animal Farm. This 1999 CGI film is a remake of the 1956 classic. You should recognize several of the voices.

The animals of a farm successfully revolt against its human owner, only to slide into a more brutal tyranny amongst themselves.

A satire of Stalinist Russia, this story tells of the revolt of the animals of Manor Farm against their human masters. Led by the pigs Snowball (Trotsky) and Napoleon (Stalin), the animals attempt to create a utopian society. Soon, however, Napoleon gets a taste for power, drives out Snowball, and establishes a totalitarian regime as brutal and corrupt as any human society. Manor Farm becomes a world where all animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.

The fifth movie is Bird Box. This 2018 suspense survival film stars Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich.
This is a slower paced film at times and I have only watched the first half, but some prefer this style of suspense movie.

Five years after an ominous unseen presence drives most of society to suicide, a mother and her two children make a desperate bid to reach safety.

Amid a nightmarish new reality where an unseen malevolent force purges the global population, the single mother, Malorie, and her two children, embark on a life-threatening quest to find the last protected haven on Earth. However, in this dangerous quest, one's eyesight is the real enemy--and as the defenceless blindfolded protector summons up the courage to follow a faint shred of hope hidden deep in a refuge down the river--darkness may be the only thing that can save them. Now, the rules of survival have changed. Will Malorie and her kids live to see another day?

The sixth movie is All Quiet on the Western Front. This 1930 war film shows WW1 from the view of a young German soldier.

With the onset of World War I, a group of students are egged on by their teacher and enlist in the German army. As seems to be the case with all wars, the young men march off in the belief that the war will be a short one and they will all soon be home, basking in the glory of victory and treated as heroes. Reality begins to set in at the training depot where their one-time amiable local postman is now their demanding training instructor. Soon shipped to the front, they face the daily challenge of surviving trench warfare and killing on a scale that they could never have imagined. All become disillusioned with their once great cause and many suffer from shell shock, severe wounds or simply are killed.

I am unsure of the future of this weekly movie thread. This was the last of the movies I'd found to post a few weeks to months ago. The movie master list is practically empty.

I may go searching in the next week for more. I'm just not sure now. Individual movie suggestions don't actually help that much unless it is a special movie. Often I don't find ones suggested and it can take 20 minutes to an hour just for 1 title especially with alternate spelling or other attempts to hide the name of the real movie. Instead, I try to be efficient and look at groups of movies others have selected and see what looks interesting. Also youtube and archive.org are deleting titles much faster now than in the past. 2 weekends ago, I had enough for 3 weeks. After checking on them, I was down to 2 weeks worth. They had deleted 6 titles. This is just a heads-up things may change soon.

The file name says it is Birds of Prey, but it's really Suicide Squad. I have watched it.
That's part of the adventure finding these, the file name says one movie and it's really another.
It actually happens somewhat often, but most don't notice it.

I was actually looking for the Birds of Prey movie in spite of bad reviews.
The harley quinn character is interesting in a humorous psychotic sort of way. :D

Yet another week of must see movies. THANK YOU minister of culture and enlightenment!

To see Animal Farm AND the original All Quiet on the Western Front in the same billing is incredible. Two excellent movies well worth watching. The rest I haven't seen but I do plan on watching them.
Whatever movies you find are most appreciated!

With all of the war/revolution talk this summer, it seemed appropriate to post them together. I didn't find a good
concentration camp movie to throw into the mix.

Watch suicide squad, you'll like it. If in doubt, watch the trailer.

The 1999 Animal Farm is hands-down my favorite, and I think the best one out there. You'll hear Patrick Stewart AND Kelsey Grammar, among others.

Always looking for details I may have missed.
Another "thank you" here for your hard work over the years putting this info on here for everyone! A great contribution to this site and it's unfortunate that the availability of movies is drying up.
