It's movie time on TB2K. Here are a variety of movies to help kick back from the real world if only for a few hours.
I'm putting each in a separate post. That should make it easier to comment, discuss, or like a specific choice.
If you watch or download a movie, please comment or like to guide future selections.
Click the "movies" tag at the top to see a list of all previous movie threads.
Click on individual movie posters to see them full size.
The movie trailers are located in post #8.

Enjoy the Show!

The first movie is San Andreas. This 2015 action adventure (Popcorn!) film stars The Rock (Dwayne Johnson). Break out the popcorn and settle in for this summer adventure. It has plenty of action and thrills.

- In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey with his ex-wife across the state in order to rescue his daughter.

The second movie is Quigley Down Under. This 1990 film stars Tom Selleck, Alan Rickman, Laura San Giacomo, and a Sharps Buffalo Rifle in 45-110 chambering.

Sharpshooter Matt Quigley is hired from Wyoming by an Australian rancher who is paying a very high price. But when Quigley arrives Down Under, all is not as it seems.

The third movie is Cool Hand Luke. This 1967 crime drama stars Paul Newman and George Kennedy.

When petty criminal Luke Jackson is sentenced to two years in a Florida prison farm, he doesn't play by the rules of either the sadistic warden or the yard's resident heavy, Dragline, who ends up admiring the new guy's unbreakable will. Luke's bravado, even in the face of repeated stints in the prison's dreaded solitary confinement cell, "the box," make him a rebel hero to his fellow convicts and a thorn in the side of the prison officers.

The fourth movie is Dr. Strangelove. This 1964 Stanley Kubrick military comedy stars Peter Sellers, George. C. Scott, and Sterling Hayden. I've been searching for this movie for quite awhile. The below options are the best I've found.

- An insane general triggers a path to nuclear holocaust that a War Room full of politicians and generals frantically tries to stop.

There are 3 ways to watch/download this classic:

Option 1 is like normal archive.org links (click the link then the start arrow). With option 1, all sound will be on the right side only and there is no way to adjust that while watching at archive.org. This movie was filmed in mono sound (only 1 channel, not stereo) and the "right" audio track contains the sound. Also, the Option 1 version has 10% cut off of the left and 10% off of the right sides so the video would fit on the old "fullscreen" TVs. The width of the people is normal.

Option 2 is to download the Option 1 movie and watch on your computer. Depending on your video player, you might be able to make the audio play on both left and right sides.

Option 3 is to download a different movie file. It can be adjusted to play as you would expect; full original video and full sound. However, you need the VLC media player to make the two needed adjustments. These are made only after loading the movie file. I use VLC as my default video player and give a download link for it. It's free and open-source. The first adjustment is to change the Aspect Ratio (under the Video option) from "default" to "16:10". That slims the width so everything looks normal instead of everything and everyone looking too wide. This version is not chopped 10% off of each side but will still show a slim black bar on each side after the first adjustment. The second adjutment is to change Stereo Mode (under the Audio option) from "Stereo" to "Right" so the audio will play from both the left and right side. This works with VLC on a computer. I do not know if VLC for a tablet gives the option to change aspect ratio and stereo mode. If it does not, use option #1 or #2 to watch and accept the audio being right side only. Sorry for the confusion, this is as simple as I can make it and have everything look/sound as it should.

The sixth movie is The Fabulous Baker Boys. This 1989 comedy/drama/musical stars Jeff Bridges, Beau Bridges, and Michelle Pfeiffer.

- The lives of two struggling musicians, who happen to be brothers, inevitably change when they team up with a beautiful, up-and-coming singer.

Frank and Jack Baker are professional musicians who play in small clubs. They perform cover tunes of music standards and have never needed a day job. Times are changing and dates are becoming more difficult to get so they interview female singers. They finally decide on Susie Diamond, a former 'escort' who needs some refinement, but the act begins to take off again. While the act is now successful, both Frank and Jack have problems with their life on the road. Susie becomes the agent that makes them re-evaluate where they are going, and how honest they have been with each other.

"What we've got here is failure to communicate."

The many memorable quotes from this film still ring true today. A true classic for all time.

A truly excellent line up including two of my all time favorites: Quigley Down Under and Dr. Strangelove I love black comedy and I like anything with Tom Selleck. The others are very fine movies as well.

Movie review: San Andreas

Love, betrayal, doom porn and fresh baked bread, this movie has it all!
Well, except for the bread, Dennis has that.
The Rock, your usual "black man-with-a-white-family, goes to great lengths to rescue his soon to be ex, who has hooked up with a worthless white man, and his daughter, who are victims of the "big one" as the S.A fault under goes a massive shaking and along with the destruction of San Francisco, sends a tidal wave in to finish everyone off and clean up the sh!t filled streets of that city.

It's a wild ride from start to finish, and you don't want to miss a minute of it.

7 Days in May was posted last October, but youtube has pulled it.
Are you still having trouble watching or saving videos now?

I added Power Play and Valkyrie to the nice-to-find movie list. I've seen Valkyrie (good), but not Power Play.

Thanks so much for the adds, 1911. Yes, I'm still having my bandwidth throttled, and don't have the patience to watch the circle go round and round and round. Perhaps I need to switch to a business account. At any rate, thank you again, I do appreciate everything!

Probably the best would be to work out how to download the ones you are interested in and watch them offline later. Bandwidth throttling should not affect that. However if you have a monthly data transfer limit, the movie files at 1-2GB per movie will eat up Data usage quickly. They will also eat up storage room on whatever device you are using. Hope you can work out how to enjoy them, but be careful with the data usage and storage space issues.

Bandwidth throttling issues should go away after people can get out again. I just added extra memory to my computer so downloads are faster, and I delete the movies once I have watched them.
